PyCon 2026 grants for core devs? (original) (raw)

In the past, there were grants for core devs. Do I understand correctly that the suspension of the grants program includes those for core devs and there are no options for attending sprints without buying a ticket?

I believe that’s not the case, as they come from the “language development” budget AFAIK, though it’d be good to have a clear answer from the PSF staff.

I also asked the same question earlier today on the core devs Discord. Steering Council members said that they are still looking into this to figure out the budgeting and have not made any decision about core devs travel grant for PyCon US.

I don’t think so. I missed the deadline to request a ticket for $reasons, asked about an extension, and was told it wasn’t possible.
