DMEXCO 2020 to be held in all-digital form (original) (raw)
“It was very difficult for us to cancel the physical version of DMEXCO. After all, we began 2020 with a booking volume for Early-Bird registrations that was considerably higher than in previous years – so conditions were ideal for setting another milestone in the successful history of DMEXCO. Then came the coronavirus pandemic that caught us all by surprise and presented us with a tremendous challenge. Working together as Koelnmesse, we rose to the challenge and developed a concept that was efficient, creative and, above all, coronavirus-compliant. This approach earned the respect of the market, too, for which I would like to express my gratitude”, said Christoph Werner, Senior Vice President of Koelnmesse. As Senior Vice President, he is responsible for the business unit Digital Media, Entertainment and Mobility Division at Koelnmesse, which also includes DMEXCO.
“Most recently, however, the response we have received after sending out the on-site concept has clearly shown us: Out of concern for the health of their employees and customers, and in light of the travel restrictions to which individual countries and companies are subject, many of our exhibitors are not yet ready for an on-site trade fair. Many companies also face economic uncertainties due to the coronavirus pandemic, and this has a direct impact on their trade fair planning. The latest news of new cases of infection in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia played a role as well. Our focus on a digital DMEXCO comes in response to our customers’ wishes this year, and we look forward to hosting a hybrid edition of DMEXCO in 2021. We are pleased that we can count on the full support of the German Association for the Digital Economy [BVDW] for this decision, and that we will be able to welcome our community together again in September – this time in digital form”, Werner explains.
DMEXCO 2020 will thus take place digitally and as a full-fledged event – in the event platform developed specially for the purpose: “Right from the outset, DMEXCO @home was designed not as a supplement, but as a stand-alone platform. That is why we expect the digital edition of DMEXCO to offer the same high quality of exhibitors, visitors and contacts as a physical DMEXCO. We are aware of the industry’s urgent need to engage in networking and business, particularly now, and we have the right answer to this. On September 23 and 24, DMEXCO @home will provide the digital economy an opportunity to hit the restart button together”, says Dr. Dominik Matyka, Chief Advisor for DMEXCO.
DMEXCO @home as a fully integrated digital event platform
In addition to livestreams from the conference, DMEXCO @home will feature interactive Master Classes and Deep Dives, all devoted to interaction and exchange. This digital platform reimagines the topic of networking: Here, all participants can communicate with one another directly in audio/video rooms or via text chat, and they can swap contact details or schedule meetings. So-called ‘spaces’ in the ‘Virtual Café’ are ‘rooms’ set aside for a specific topic or target audience where, for instance, exhibitors can stage their roadshows or maintain personal contacts with their customers.
At DMEXCO @home exhibitors can present themselves to visitors in their own brand showrooms on the interactive ‘Brand Showfloor’. That is where they can introduce themselves and their products in detail and, more to the point, conduct business with customers. Interested parties can seek advice and interact directly with showroom visitors. With virtual entertainment offers and in store for visitors, the new platform offers an impressive experience, too.
Speakers from all over the world can make presentations at the DMEXCO Conference; they can join in the proceedings or, where necessary, take part via recordings. This way, the entire DMEXCO community can watch the speakers’ lectures, discussions and panels from all over the world. Past sessions can be called up as videos-on-demand, too.
Tickets cost €99 and will be available for purchase online from mid-July
The regular ticket for DMEXCO @home will cost 99 euro – or 79 euro for the Early-Bird version. The online Ticket Shop will open in mid-July 2020.
