Applies tags to a resource. For usage examples, see the Controls Reference Guide.

Request Syntax

POST /tags/resourceArn HTTP/1.1

URI Request Parameters

The request uses the following URI parameters.

resourceArn

The ARN of the resource to be tagged.

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 20. Maximum length of 2048.

Pattern: arn:aws[0-9a-zA-Z_\-:\/]+

Required: Yes

Request Body

The request accepts the following data in JSON format.

tags

Tags to be applied to the resource.

Type: String to string map

Map Entries: Minimum number of 0 items. Maximum number of 200 items.

Key Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 128.

Value Length Constraints: Minimum length of 0. Maximum length of 256.

Required: Yes

Response Syntax

HTTP/1.1 204

Response Elements

If the action is successful, the service sends back an HTTP 204 response with an empty HTTP body.

InternalServerException

An unexpected error occurred during processing of a request.

HTTP Status Code: 500

ResourceNotFoundException

The request references a resource that does not exist.

HTTP Status Code: 404

ValidationException

The input does not satisfy the constraints specified by an AWS service.

HTTP Status Code: 400
