About billing for GitHub Copilot - GitHub Docs (original) (raw)

GitHub offers several Copilot plans for enterprises, organizations, and individual developers.

GitHub Copilot in your enterprise

Enterprises on GitHub Enterprise Cloud can subscribe to either GitHub Copilot Business or GitHub Copilot Enterprise, or a mixture of both across different organizations within an enterprise. Both plans are available on a monthly cycle, and pricing varies. For more information, see About billing for GitHub Copilot in your enterprise.

GitHub Copilot in your organization

GitHub bills Copilot Business on a monthly cycle, for $19 USD per user per month. For more information, see About billing for GitHub Copilot in your organization.

GitHub Copilot as an individual

GitHub Copilot Pro and GitHub Copilot Pro+ plans are available on a monthly or yearly cycle:

See About billing for individual Copilot plans.

Note

If you have an active Copilot Pro or Copilot Pro+ plan, and are then assigned a seat as part of a Copilot Business or Copilot Enterprise plan, your personal Copilot plan will be automatically canceled. You will receive a prorated refund for any remaining portion of your personal plan's current billing cycle. You will then be able to continue using Copilot according to the policies set by your company.

If you want to try Copilot before subscribing, you can use GitHub Copilot Free for a limited experience. See About individual Copilot plans and benefits.

Managing requests in Copilot

Some Copilot features use premium requests, which count toward your monthly usage allowance. To learn how premium requests work, which features use them, and how to manage your usage, see Understanding and managing requests in Copilot.

Migrating between Copilot plans

When transitioning between different Copilot plans, you may encounter situations that require support.

Trial expiration notices

If you see a trial expiration notice but have an active paid subscription, this is a display issue and does not affect your access. If this persists, contact GitHub Support.

Migrations requiring support assistance

Some migrations cannot be completed through self-service options.

What happens if you have used up your monthly quota?

If you run out of free minutes or premium requests, and you have not set up billing, a message is displayed explaining why Copilot cannot work on the task.

Monitoring your use of Actions minutes and premium requests

You can track your monthly usage of GitHub Actions minutes and premium requests, to help you get the most value from your Copilot plan. See Viewing your usage of metered products and Monitoring your Copilot usage and entitlements.
