ADVANCE-Purdue in collaboration with The Center for Research on Diversity and Inclusion, The Butler Center and the Program in Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies invite abstracts for presentation, posters, and discussion for the Gender and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Research Symposium. Researchers – including undergraduate students, graduate students, staff and faculty – from throughout the Midwest or beyond are encouraged to submit current research in the broad area of gender and STEM.
The objectives of this symposium are:
- interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary networking of scholars who study gender and STEM,
- capacity building and professional development for students and junior scholars, and
- discussion of emerging methods to do substantive studies on gender and STEM
The ADVANCE 2013 Gender and STEM Symposium was held on November 13-14th in Stewart Center 310 and 302. Researchers – including undergraduate students, graduate students, staff and faculty – from throughout the Midwest or beyond were encouraged to submit current research in the broad area of gender and STEM.
Professor Peggy McIntosh, Associate Director of Wellesley Centers for Women, will be the keynote speaker at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, November 13th in STEW 310. The Symposium will continue on Thursday, November 14 from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm in STEW 310.
The award winning show “Truth Values-One Girl’s Romp Through M.I.T.’s Male Math Maze” by Gioia De Cari was presented by ADVANCE-Purdue at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 13th in Fowler Hall/Stewart Center/Purdue University.
