Abstract
We present in this paper some aspects of an expert design tool so-called OICSI. The scope of OICSI is to generate the IS conceptual schema from a description of the application domain given with a subset of the french natural language. The tool starts, in a first step with an interpretation of natural language descriptions leading to a descriptive network which corresponds to a first version of the conceptual schema. Then in the second step, OICSI uses design rules in order to complete and transform the descriptive network into a normalized network which describes all the elements of the final conceptual schema. The paper focusses on the second step. It presents the representation and validation rules included in the OICSI knowledge based as a formalization of design rules issued from our own practice and experience of Information System design.
