Cerebral venous thrombosis as a complication of ulcerative colitis (original) (raw)

Summary

Two patients were described in whom cerebral venous thrombosis occurred in the presence of ulcerative colitis. Evidence was presented to suggest that this is more than a chance association.

The diagnosis was confirmed in 1 patient at craniotomy and in the other at postmortem examination following a fatal pulmonary embolism. Possible etiologic factors were discussed.
