Abstract

As a result of the discovery in 1959 of the skull of Zinjanthropus boisei 1, in association with an Oldowan living floor at site F.L.K. I Olduvai, funds for a much more extensive programme at the end of 1959 and during 1960 were generously made available by the Wenner Gren Foundation, the Wilkie Foundation and the National Geographic Society of Washington, to all of which I express my deep gratitude.
