Abstract
It has already been shown that, In Escherichia coli, the nucleic acid triplet UGA does not code for an amino-acid (Nature, 213, 449; 1967). The isolation of a strong specific suppressor for this triplet has permitted experiments which suggest that in E. coli UGA terminates the polypeptide chain.
