Abstract
WE reported previously that interferon treatment increased the survival of Balb/c and C57 Bl/6 mice inoculated with RC19 and EL4 tumour cells1,2. Levy, Law and Kabson3, and Zeleznick and Bhuyan4, have observed a similar increase in survival time of tumour inoculated mice treated with an inducer of endogenous interferon, polyinosinic–polycytidylic acid (poly I . poly C)5. In previous studies it was found that exogenous interferon proved more effective than interferon inducers in the treatment of mice preinfected with encephalomyocarditis (EMC) virus6. We report here the results of similar experiments comparing the effect of these two forms of therapy in Balb/c mice inoculated with RC19 tumour cells.
