Abstract
Mitochondria are commonly found as extended reticular webs whose overall morphology depends on frequent fission and fusion of mitochondrial tubules. These processes require distinct GTP-binding proteins that act at the mitochondrial surface and have central roles in the determination of mitochondrial structure.
