Detection of ionized sulfur in the Jovian magnetosphere. (original) (raw)

Abstract
Detection of a pair of emission lines at 6717 and 6730 A in the near vicinity of Jupiter is reported. It is proposed that the lines be identified with the forbidden doublet of S II. The astrophysical implications of this identification are discussed.
