In Brief:
Associations of arterial stiffness (AS), a precursor to cardiovascular disease, and actigraphy-assessed sleep duration are unclear. In 282 healthy, younger adults, AS was first assessed at rest in the research laboratory. Outside of the laboratory, actigraphy-assessed sleep was collected with 36 hours of concurrent AS. Actigraphy-assessed sleep duration was positively associated with AS while asleep and inversely associated with day-to-night AS dipping, for women only. Sleep duration–AS associations may differ by sex but warrant replication.
