Abstract
The crystal structure of aurichalcite, (Cu, Zn)5(CO3)2(OH)6, from the Lavrion Mining District, Greece, was refined from X-ray data of a twinned crystal at ambient conditions. Aurichalcite is monoclinic, space group P21 /m [a = 13.790(2), b = 6.414(2), c = 5.266(1) Å, ? = 100.99 (1)°, V = 457.2 (1) Å3, Z = 2] to R1 = 0.036, wR2 = 0.051. The structure model of Harding et al. (1994) is confirmed and the hydrogen bond system is established.
