Post-landing Displays of Chilean Blue-eyed Shags at a Cliff-nesting Colony (original) (raw)
Adult Blue-eyed Shags observed for two days at a cliff-nesting colony on Punta Guapacho, Isla ChiloƩ, Chile performed two different types of post-landing displays: when landing on flat surfaces they extended the neck horizontally, and when landing at the cliff nests they held the neck vertically. Juveniles did not give post-landing displays. The observations suggest that the form of the post-landing display in Blue-eyed Shags is influenced by limitations on space in the physical environment.
