National Taiwan University is expected to restore Liugongjun for creating space of water access on the campus. Current status of Liugongjun is sealed with cement and built for architecture. Since 2001, Liugongjun restoration program has been discussed consistently; however, its economic feasibility is unanswered. This study estimated ecosystem services value of Liugongjun cultural assets to assess whether Liugongjun restoration program is supported in the aspect of ecological economics. We use a new tool TESSA for conducting net benefits of ecosystem services assessment under scenarios of current state and alternative state of Liugongjun in the section of National Taiwan University campus. We concluded that ecological restoration contributes to re-establish or strengthen cultural ecosystem services. Our survey shows ecosystem service of cultural heritage has the highest benefits, which reveals gradually turning function from water supply to historical significance of Liugongjun assets. Last but not least, net benefit of cultural services in Liugongjun restoration is 3,560 million per year, which is higher than costs for construction. From the perspectives of ecological economics and ecosystem services assessment, Liugongjun restoration program is possibly performed.
