Welcome To The Quartermasters

As proud custodians of this historical architectural gem in the County town of Dorchester, we are delighted to present The Quartermaster Stores – a sympathetic conversion into 5 exclusive townhouses and 2 apartments.

Whether it is the ornate chimneys, high ceilings, flagstone floors or double-height traditional windows, each home has been individually designed to be respectful of its heritage, in order to retain these wonderful traditional features, as well as provide the modern specification that customers expect.

The Quartermaster Stores were built for the Dorset Regiment and, as the name would suggest, were used as the stores for the Quartermaster. More recently, the property was owned and used by the local authority as offices and stores, until the recent sale for redevelopment.
The homes are both spacious and light, with well-laid-out accommodations, thoughtfully incorporating many of the fine period features within the original building. In addition, properties have been enhanced with up-to-date modern conveniences.

Phase 1: 1-4 The Quartermaster Stores have private access and courtyard gardens to the rear and benefit from two private parking spaces.
Phase 2: 5-7 The Quartermaster Stores have shared access to a communal hallway, with front doors leading off to the individual properties. The two-bedroom townhouse has a rear courtyard garden. The 2 x two-bedroom apartments and the townhouse each benefit from two private parking spaces.

History

The construction of The Quartermaster Stores occurred at the end of the 19th Century after troops were recalled from abroad and the creation of county regiments.

The Quartermaster Stores have been identified as an important local building, attributed to the Head of Design at the War Office – Major AC Seddon.
