(2 drunks | get drunk) Sunday, April 10th, 2005 1:01 pm - Yesterday at Dos enigmainaz Met up with a friend at Tempe Dos yesterday. It was a beautiful spring Saturday afternoon in the desert. Blue skies with spots of clouds and plenty of beer to be had. Sat down at the center bar, split a six pack of yummy chicken tacos and listened to the local one-man band play a variety of sing along cover songs. When we screamed out "DEAD OR ALIVE", he obliged us with the 80s classic.Oh, and of course, plenty of hot females. Thank God for warm weather.Hmm ... I may just have to go back there again today. What the heck am I doing here sitting at home when I could be at Dos? I don't find it the least bit Mexico-esque. It's more a poor rip-off of San Felippe's. Neither establishment impresses me much. The only saving grace for Wet Willy's was the 1and1 and 1and2 u-call-its last night. If I closed my eyes & pretended I was outside, I could almost pretend I was sipping my Corona at Dos Gringos--not at some lameass copycat bar where a guy was beaten to death two months earlier. Someone needs to tell the owner of Dos Gringos to stop opening bars/restaurants in the East Valley and open up a Dos over here. Please, for my sake. And with the new 2 a.m. last call, I'm willing to bet the next few weeks are going to be sheer craziness!Has anyone been there lately? Planning to go?I live on the west side of Phoenix now (damn graduating!), so I no longer live at Dos Gringos. These days a trip to Dos is a coordinated effort because I have to find a place to crash in Tempe/Scottsdale. However, that doesn't mean I'm not around! There isn't much that could keep me from that bar. (If you think I'm exaggerating about living there, ask my friends or the bartenders there. It was his idea. I went with a backpack. Recommendation: do not take a backpack. It's not the old Dos and tehrefore everyone gives you a funny look.It was all Brian's idea, I swear. I didn't get drawn in by the strobe lights.Saw Mac the security guard. Among others. Brian recognized him (without the hat, no less) from the single pic I posted to this journal.I only had two Coronas. Then, Brian and I stuck to our goal of only two beers. So.... we left. We did, however, get much decision making done for the ASU Department of Leisure Studies.
