Many different algorithms and systems have been proposed and built. Although, great success has been achieved in palmprint research, however, the accuracy and spoofing mechanism are limited in some cases, as the palmprint feature may be similar for a given spectral illumination; hyperspectral Palmprint is a good recognition method to address this issue, it can provide more discriminate information under different illumination in a short time. Optimal band selection is a very important step to building hyperspectral palmprint recognition system. In this paper, for dimensionality reduction 2D2 LDA, is used on pre-processed palmprint images, for feature extraction 2D Gabor filter is being used, for pattern matching SVM, KNN classifiers are used. Experiment result showed that 2 spectral bands 700 nm and 960 nm could provide the highest recognition accuracy for hyperspectral palmprint recognition.

Experiment result showed that 2 spectral bands 700 nm and 960 nm could provide the highest recognition accuracy for hyperspe...

But there may be chances of spoofing attack against biometric system. Biometric devices can also be spoofed artificially by plastic palmprint, copy medium to provide a false biometric signature, etc., so existing biometric technology can be enhanced with a spectroscopy method. In this paper, ASD FieldSpec 4 Spectroradiometer is used to overcome this problem, the palmprint spectral signatures of every person are unique in nature. Preprocessing technique including smoothing was done on the palmprint spectra to remove the noise. Statistical analysis were done on preprocessed spectra, FAR (False acceptance Rate), and FRR (False Rejection Rate) values against different threshold values were obtained and equal error rate was acquired. EER of the system is approximately 12% and the verification threshold 0.12.

Recognition accuracy and anti-spoof capability is limited. Multispectral palmprint is a good technique to address these issues; the multispectral palmprint sensors typically collect spectral information in a Red peaking 660nm, Green peaking at 525nm, blue 470nm and NIR peaking at 880nm, selected discrete spectral bands, but which spectral band gives more discriminative information for that multispectral palmprint database is not sufficient, this problem is solved by hyperspectral Palmprint, which collects spectral information 420nm~1100nm, which could provide more discriminative information as compare to multispectral palmprint recognition. Optimized band selection could not only reduce the cost of illumination sources, reduce the data storage amount and save the computational time and improve the recognition acc...

The threshold value range decided with maximum and minimum distance of two images, and we found that, as we increased the threshold FAR will be increased and FRR will be decreased, as well as the recognition rate will be increased. We have to select recognition rate where false acceptance and rejection are low. At a given threshold a biometric system that gives low FAR and low FRR is good one. So in our experiments at the threshold value 0.33 gives the 90% recognition rate.
