She was an inspiration to many chemists for her wit and cleverness and pioneering studies in biomimetic metal complexes that mimic the second coordination sphere interactions in proteins. She was always encouraging and supportive of young scientists, including students, but also professors like myself whom she spoke to at conferences and encouraged us to be confident in our discoveries and make the most of them.
