Jika dibandingkan pelajar dahulu dengan pelajar sekarang, cabaran belajar pelajar pada zaman teknologi sangat menarik kerana teknologi sentiasa berubah seiring dengan peredaran masa. Oleh yang demikian, kertas kerja ini akan membincangkan penggunaan weblog sebagai satu kaedah baharu dalam mencapai proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Sepanyol sebagai bahasa asing. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan Teori Kognitif oleh Jean Piaget (1952), penulis akan melihat trend pelajar mengaplikasikan bahan-bahan berkaitan berdasarkan tahap kognitif pelajar dalam membina weblog bahasa Sepanyol. The use of technology in the learning of foreign languages nowadays has become a need that is bot... more The use of technology in the learning of foreign languages nowadays has become a need that is both important and fun. The advent of the internet has made it very convenient for learners to share and create language learning content. Therefore, this paper will discuss the use of blogs as a new and innovative method in the process of teaching and learning Spanish as a foreign language. Jean Piaget's Cognitive theory approach (1952) will be applied to observe learners' cognitive level in creating blogs and to identify learners' writing skills in Spanish. Five blogs will be examined in this research, focusing on the peformance in writing basic sentences in Spanish. In these blogs, learners will apply the writing skills they have obtained in class to the blogs the create. The findings from this research do not only highlight the learners' thinking skills in creating the blogs but also, the researchers have also observed that their basic writing skills have improved. Therefore, this research has given a new dimension in diversifying the teaching and learning approach to learning Spanish as a foreign language.

In addition to being a popular destination for tourists worldwide, Japan is getting high marks fo... more In addition to being a popular destination for tourists worldwide, Japan is getting high marks for its efforts to become a halal-friendly tourist destination. Halal or Islamic tourism is a market segment that is fast growing not only in Muslim countries but globally due to the rapid growth of the Muslim population. Japan is at the top of the list of countries that increase their hospitality to Muslim customers. The purpose of this study is to investigate the perspective of Malaysian Muslims tourists towards halal food facilities based on their experience of a visit to Japan. Surveys via the questionnaire are the method used for data collection. The outcome of the study shows that respondents are very concerned about the halal status of food due to their understanding of the concept of halal food. Therefore, most of them only choose food that is believed to be permitted especially those with halal logo. Halal food is relatively easy to get at the airport and major tourist attractions. The presence of Muslim workers in halal premises adds to their confidence in the halal food provided. In terms of cost, respondents are less satisfied because the cost of halal food is relatively expensive.

The study was conducted to identify the effects of using song as a teaching aid for students stud... more The study was conducted to identify the effects of using song as a teaching aid for students studying foreign language at Universiti Putra Malaysia. Global language or foreign language is a compulsory course for students in Universiti Putra Malaysia. Students are required to learn this foreign language for two semesters, which is up to level two. Should they progress to level three, they will be awarded a certificate. As such, students will definitely need to have high motivation for learning the foreign language. Hence this study is undertaken to learn whether the approach is suitable to guide and enhance student's learning capabilities. This research was conducted on 105 students who were selected at random as respondents and were given online questionnaires to complete. The questionnaire was developed based on Dörnyei's (1994) theory, which is course specific motivational components involving four constructs (interest; relevance; expectancy; satisfaction). The findings showed that students strongly agree that learning foreign language using song has the following effect: (i) it does not make them bored, (ii) the lyrics trigger their interest to learn the foreign language, (iii) the use of songs in learning helps to reinforce vocabulary, and (iv) the students feel proud when they pronounce the words correctly.

Therefore, this paper will discuss the use of blogs as a new method in the process of teaching and learning Spanish as a foreign language. I see the trend of students applying relevant materials, based on the cognitive level of students in building the Spanish language blog-based approach Cognitive Theory by Piaget (1952). Six blogs will be examined in this study with an attention to the diversity of styles and cultivate students build a blog based on knowledge learned in the classroom. Due to the rapid growth of the Muslim population, Halal or Islamic tourism is a market segment th... more Due to the rapid growth of the Muslim population, Halal or Islamic tourism is a market segment that is constantly increasing not only in Muslim countries but also globally. Japan is one of the forefront countries that are becoming more welcoming to Muslim customers. A combination of halal-friendly products and services, as well as omotenashi (traditional Japanese hospitality), is attracting visitors from Muslim countries, including Malaysia. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of satisfaction of Malaysian Muslim tourists with halal facilities based on their visit to Japan. Surveys and questionnaires were utilised to collect data from a total of 288 respondents. Respondents are particularly concerned about the availability of halal facilities to meet religious needs, according to the study's findings. They like the cleanliness of the prayer space at the airport, as well as the amenities gave, such as ablution areas, prayer direction (Qibla), and a prayer rug. They were extremely pleased with the mosque's cleanliness and facilities. On the other hand, they are dissatisfied with the prayer facilities available at tourist destinations because only a small percentage of them provide a prayer room for Muslims. The practice of prayer in public places, on the other hand, is not interrupted or restricted. In regards to accommodations, they believe it is clean and suited for prayer. However, because there is no Qibla direction in the room, no prayer facilities, no halal cuisine, and no prayer time information supplied at the counter, the majority of the accommodations are not very accommodating to Muslim demands.

Perbezaan kelas kata iaitu, kata kerja dalam bahasa Sepanyol dan kata pemeri dalam bahasa Melayu, memungkinkan wujudnya kekeliruan dalam penggunaan ayat. Penulis cuba untuk mengenal pasti bentuk kata kerja Ser dan Estar dan padanan maknanya dalam bahasa Melayu. Seterusnya penulis akan menganalisis padanan makna tersebut berdasarkan fungsi ayat dalam bahasa Sepanyol dan bahasa Melayu. Kajian konseptual ini berdasarkan kepada teori Relevans oleh Sperber and Wilson (1986 dan 1995). Perubahan kelas kata yang wujud ini disebabkan perbezaan fungsi ayat dalam penggunaan Bahasa Sepanyol dan bahasa Melayu. The mid short vowels: /e/ and /o/ are among the vowels shared between Hausa and Yorùbá but differ... more The mid short vowels: /e/ and /o/ are among the vowels shared between Hausa and Yorùbá but differ in Hausa mid-high long, front and back vowels: /e:/ and /o:/. The phonemic differences in the two languages have caused learning difficulties among the Yorùbá native speakers to achieve their second language learning desire and competence. Yorùbá-Hausa learners mispronounce certain disyllabic Hausa words due to the substitution of vowels in the first and second syllables. Thus, both lexical and grammatical meanings of the Hausa words are affected. Therefore, this paper discussing meaning relevance in text translation in order to discover similarities and differences meaning between Malay and Spanish. The researcher has focused on four sentences from Malay to Spanish by using A1, A2, A3 and A4 label involving ten students from Universiti Putra Malaysia who taking Spanish as an elective course. The Relevance Theory (1986 and 1995) by Sperber and Wilson's is use in this paper. The objectives are to discuss translation equivalents for textual verb expressions from Malay to Spanish, and to analyse the translation equivalents based on their fuctional similarities and differences to ensure the meaning conveyed remain the same to the original text. Findings from this research can assist the teaching and learning of Spanish as a foreign language specifically in verb formation.

Therefore, this paper discussing meaning relevance in text translation in order to discover similarities and differences meaning between Malay and Spanish. The researcher has focused on four sentences from Malay to Spanish by using A1, A2, A3 and A4 label involving ten students from Universiti Putra Malaysia who taking Spanish as an elective course. The Relevance Theory (1986 and 1995) by Sperber and Wilson's is use in this paper. The objectives are to discuss translation equivalents for textual verb expressions from Malay to Spanish, and to analyse the translation equivalents based on their fuctional similarities and differences to ensure the meaning conveyed remain the same to the original text. Findings from this research can assist the teaching and learning of Spanish as a foreign language specifically in verb formation.

The confusion occurs when students are unable to distinguish the form of the verb in Spanish compared to the Malay equivalent. Observations made on 30 respondents found that this confusion arises because students are not able to master certain forms of conjugating verbs in Spanish very well when translated from Malay language. Thus in accordance with the theory of Relevance (Sperber and Wilson, 1986 and 1995), where the authors try to compare the meaning of the verbs in search for answers to the confusion that exists.
