However, these defective items can be removed from the lot through a screening process. Thus, the inspection of lot becomes essential, especially when items are deteriorating in nature. Further, in today's uncertain global economy, due to rising inflation there is a consequent decline in the real value of money, which eventually forces the supplier to provide an attractive tradecredit policy to the retailer. Keeping this scenario in mind, an attempt has been made to formulate an inventory policy for a retailer dealing with imperfect quality items of deteriorating nature under inflation and permissible delay in payments. Results have been demonstrated with the help of a numerical example and sensitivity analysis is also presented to provide managerial insights into practice.
Periodic Review Inventory Model with Controllable Lead Time under Service level Constraint where Backorder Rate depends on Protection Interval

Shortages are allowed and partially backlogged. The demand during the protection interval is assumed to be normally distributed. The total cost has been obtained by jointly optimizing the review period, lead time and backorder discount under the effect of known service level. This study not only provides the greater flexibility to the inventory manager to coordinate inventory in more efficient manner but also makes enormous savings in total expected cost.

The total fuzzy cost function has been defuzzified using signed distance and centroid method. Comparison between these two methods has also been discussed. The validity of the model has been established with the help of a hypothetical numerical example.

Traditionally, they played second-fiddle to their male counterparts for no faults of theirs. Even the most-advanced nation, the oldest democracy of the world, namely United States of America (USA), recognized their right to vote after lots of struggle. It is yet to have its first lady President (though it may change in the upcoming Presidential Election of 2016 what with Hillary Clinton claiming the nomination of the Dems). The reason for the same is not very hard to fathom despite the advances made in almost every field. The scenario is similar across every nation in the world. India is no different to the same. Political activities and their relationship with women's participation is something which has not been discussed to great extent in the Indian context, much like other democracies. Sustainable inventory model for a three-layer supply chain using optimal waste management

To resolve this, innovative and smart ways are required that are not only cost-effective but also environmentally savvy. Moreover, the production processes are also prone to various imperfections, and thus the production of defectives is quite pragmatic. The handling of such defective products varies from industry to industry and type of products. The present study constructs an inventory model to handle the defective products via a proficient rework strategy that makes the product fit to be sold at the primary price. Here, the demand for the product is assumed to be dependent on the selling price and advertisements. The model also considers the energy usage during the production and the cost of carbon emissions while optimizing the production batch size and selling price. Optimality is proved graphically by using the software Mathematica 11.3.0. A compr...

The present study investigates the effect of crashing of the lead time and setup cost in periodic review inventory model, where the demand during the protection interval follows the normal distribution under the service level constraint. Numerical example is presented to illustrate the results of the proposed model along with the sensitivity analysis.
A two-warehouse inventory problem for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with constant demand ... more A two-warehouse inventory problem for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with constant demand rate under different dispatching policies is premeditated. While formulating the inventory model for deteriorating items, usually it is assumed that the items start deteriorating as soon as they enter into the warehouse. However, there are numerous products like dry fruits, food grains etc. that have a shelf-life and start deteriorating after a time lag that is termed as non-instantaneous deterioration. Moreover, at times there are situations like eye catching price discount, low cost storage, huge demand etc. and under such a situation one may decide to procure large quantity of the items which would arise the problem of storing. As the capacity of own warehouse is limited, therefore one has to hire another warehouse to store the excess quantity. To incorporate above scenario, a two-warehouse inventory model for non-instantaneous deteriorating item under different dispatching policy i.e...

The supplier has limited capacity. If the retailer orders exceed available capacity, the supplier allocates capacity using publicly known mechanism. After allocation if the supplier is left with inventory he can reallocate the demand. An algorithm has been developed for reallocation of demand using different allocation mechanism. It has been shown numerically, how reallocation mechanism can benefit the retailers as well as supplier causing higher supply chain profits. Further, we have tried to evaluate whether a retailer should use truth-inducing mechanism or he should use manipulable mechanism to increase his profit. If any disaster happens, organizations (private or government) start to provide facilities as evacuation and supply of relief commodities in the affected regions. This paper formulates an inventory-relief-chain (IRC) model with the relief supply chain for the distribution of the relief commodity. The results of the model provide the optimal number of intermediate distribution centers and relief centers. However, in the study, every relief center is considered to distribute the relief commodity because in disaster conditions every relief center is inescapable. The model is formulated with a core objective to optimize the total cost of the relief operation. An algorithm is proposed to nd the optimal solution of the proposed model. Furthermore, a numerical analysis is carried out with a numerical example to validate...

The demand during the protection interval is assumed to follow the Normal distribution. A wide range of expected shortages during the protection interval has been considered, with their corresponding values of safety factor. Keeping this in mind, we have returned to both Ouyang and Chuang (2000) and Liang et al. (2008) model. Further, it has been observed that both the models do not succeed in providing the solution for service level other than 98% and 99%. In the light of this fact, we revisit the solution procedure of both the papers and are able to obtain the result for any level of service. Detail comparative analysis has also been presented.

The approach of this paper is to develop an inventory model in which the demand of the product follows extended Bass diffusion model by incorporating price in a multiplicative way. The model is illustrated with a numerical example and a comprehensive sensitivity analysis of the optimal solution with respect to different parameters was performed to make the model more effective.
