We present a rare case of lamotrigine induced lupus presenting as acute syndrome of apoptotic pan epidermolysis (ASAP).

The lesions were initially discrete and had slowly become confluent in the past 1 year resulting in bulky and drooping upper eyelids. There were extensive purpura on her neck and arms [Figure 2]. Histopathology showed a dense homogenous acellular eosinophilic material throughout the papillary and reticular dermis with clefting and extensive red blood cell extravasation [Figures 3 and 4]. Congo red staining showed a characteristic apple green birefringence [Figure 5], diagnostic of cutaneous amyloidosis. The patients hemogram, liver function tests, and renal function tests were normal; however, albumin‐to‐globulin ratio was reversed. Skeletal survey was unremarkable. Bone marrow aspiration revealed a predominance

Premature androgenetic alopecia can be defined as androgenetic alopecia developing before 35 years of age and presenting with at least stage 2 of Norwood-Hamilton classification. Premature AGA not only adds to psychological stress but is also reported as a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome and carcinoma prostrate. In many subsequent studies, AGA has been shown to be associated with several diseases such as insulin resistance (IR), abnormal serum lipid profiles and obesity. Methods: Various parameters of metabolic syndrome were measured in 75 male patients of AGA in the department of dermatology, Safdarjung hospital from June 2015 to April 2016. ECG and echocardiography was done in all patients to look for any evidence of premature coronary artery disease . Results: In our ...

It is a benign lesion and may clinically mimic a cutaneous neurofibroma, melanocytic nevi, or cutaneous schwannoma. Here we report a rare case of multifocal cutaneous PENs and its differentiation from cutaneous schwannomas, which is possible by histopathology.

Aim: To evaluate all skin tumors and categorize them according to their origin. Methods: The present study was conducted over a period of 4 years (July 1, 2013 to June 31, 2017) comprising of 1.5 years prospective and 2.5 years retrospective analysis in the departments of Dermatology and Pathology, at a tertiary hospital in North India. All specimens of skin tumors were analyzed grossly and microscopically. Immunohistochemistry was done wherever possible. Results: A total of 232 skin tumors were seen; of which 123 cases were benign (53.0%) and 109 cases were malignant (47.0%). The mean age of patients with benign and malignant skin tumors was 40.3 ± 19.9 and 60.8 ± 14.8 yea...
