Anyone here still willing/able to help out? [Jul. 27th, 2007|09:27 am]Doctor Who Concrit
[mood** |hopefulhopeful]I realize this comm is kinda abandoned these days, which is an absolute shame, but I’m hoping there are enough people who still have it friended to evaluate this piece for me and tell me where I’m going wrong. This is part of a long WIP (the next to the last chapter in the first story arc) that’s basically a what-if alternative to Doomsday. The setup is that the breach closes just before Rose would have gone in, and just before Pete would have appeared to save her. Only they discover part of the Tardis is damaged and they’re going to be stuck on Earth for the next several years. The story is supposed to be about how this situation would realistically affect the Doctor/Rose relationship, since he’s inevitably going to view being trapped in one time and place as a prison sentence, yet he manages to convince himself that returning to her “proper life” is the best thing that could happen to Rose, even without her mother there. The Doctor has gone back to his old job at UNIT, which is much different than it was in the 70s, and Rose is trying unsuccessfully to find a job to support herself while she tries for her A-Levels.Thing is, this chapter keeps not going where I intended it to go. I’ve had a couple of people look it over for me, and the suggestions helped but I think I need a bit more input. This chapter was supposed to be a big, grand-slam fight between the characters that sort of leads them to a kind of revelation about the direction they’re headed in, only it just won’t go there. So can anybody tell me if I should just give up and go with the bitterness of temporarily crushed optimism or alternatively, if that doesn’t work, how to turn it back into the kind of blazing but cathartic row I had envisioned??( the chapter that's falling apartCollapse )**

Ficathon fic [Oct. 29th, 2006|01:02 am]Doctor Who Concrit
[mood** |chipperchipper]Hello to you all,I've written a small fic, more like a ficlet I suppose, for the Rose ficathon. This is my first real fic, in any fandom really; certainly my first in DW, aside from a drabble. I also haven't done any real creative writing in a loooooong time. That being the case, I can use all the help I can get with this, though I am proud of myself that I actually got this thing written and finished. So here it is; please offer any all criticism/suggestions you may have. Thank you!( Possibly titled A Dress In Time , but am searching for something better...Collapse )**

Hey again.Next installment. I'm carefully taking notes of the crit and will try to incorporate it into each new ep I write. But I will wait until I've finished the story, then go through and do a massive rewrite to cover everything I've already written. In the meantime, here is the next installment for those interested.I'm up to about part 7 I think and I'm still debating the last part. Its gotten pretty explicit and I'm not sure if I want/need to continue this heavily. That being said I'm probably 2/3rds of the way through. Part II is fairly safe, still just mild BDSM and drug use. Here is Part II of the Red Chair.Enjoy

Looking for feedback [Sep. 6th, 2006|02:49 am]Doctor Who Concrit
Hey All,Im looking for feedback to some fic I'm writing...well some NineSmut I'm writing anyway.Basic premise is an alternate beginning to BadWolf. What if the Doctor hadn't dropped into a nasty version of BigBrother, but had in fact dropped into a X-rated game show of some kind. After all, with all those reality shows ending in a brutal death, whats stopping them from having the same kind for Adults only. :PPretty thin I know, but I'm walking a fine line between kink, BDSM, mild torture and trying not drift into outright rape. I need feedback, but also feel free to advise me if no one feels comfortable criting this.Feedback being 'Its great' or 'Its sucks' or 'Ewww!!!' while appreciated for your honesty isn't quite what I'm looking for.I need crit, does the story hang together, is the premise too farfetched, do the characters work. Do I have Nines mannerisms down...inasmuch as their allowed to show. ect..Title: Red ChairAuthor: amarillionFandom: Doctor WhoRating: M 18+Summary: Nine in the Red ChairSpoilers: Bad WolfContains: Heavy sexual references, drug use, torture, mild BDSM, and other generally adult themes. :PDisclaimer: The Dr and all belong to the BBC. I'm just borrowing them. Nine in the Red Chair.

Oh, No, Not Another [Aug. 19th, 2006|02:30 pm]Doctor Who Concrit
Post Doomsday Fic. Well, it's a ficlet, and not much angsty. I want it to have a good structure because with all the post-Doomsday fic out I try to at least make it well written if it can't have an original theme.By the way, thank you kindly for letting me join. It's very nice to be here. So, like, I have this short fic that needs some concrit, and if anyone has any advice I'd be most grateful. Fic at the cut, and at the end of the fic are a couple of questions I have.**( NostalgiaCollapse )**Ack. ETA the missing angle bracket from the LJ cut. So very sorry.

I've been wanting to put this up for concrit for ages: tear it apart at will. :DThis is my DW fic baby, _Turn Of The Earth_- the story that I can't seem to let die. It also eventually became very OC driven, so I'd love to hear what people make of those particular characters. (Essentially, it was a bit like Love & Monsters before there was a Love & Monsters...ordinary people in the Doctor's world.)It's a tad complicated: there was the original series (which had ten parts) and then after that I did There Is No Christmas On Mars, and then _She Looked Back_- there's two more 'sequels', believe it or not. One of them has Elton Pope. And the Dalek v Cybermen war. Will probably post that here as well. ;)Pick one: (both are pretty much exactly the same, of course, just at different locations)the LiveJournal version (this is the one with Shareen's name spelled wrong throughout- that'll be fixed at some point)the version on my website, where the sypnosis is overdramatic but the pictures are prettierEnjoy!

Help! [Aug. 8th, 2006|09:54 pm]Doctor Who Concrit
[**mood** |hopefulhopeful]Hubby has installed my new hard drive. Which means I will no longer be plagued with ugly buzzing noises or the blue screen of death on my laptop.BUT...unfortunately it also means I lost some links that I had collected over the past couple of days; my last backup was on Friday.I'm trying to find the link to the DW transcripts website. I originally found it through someone's post here on LJ but now I can't find it again. Any help here?

Questions about betas [Aug. 6th, 2006|05:26 pm]Doctor Who Concrit
OK. So am I a complete dweeb for never having had a beta and for posting my stuff without one? (You'll notice I haven't braved the LJ communities yet!)And where'd the term "beta" come from, anyway? I'm used to "proofreader" or "editor."Those of you who have betas; how'd you manage to find each other?Where I'm coming from: I used to write fanfiction way back before Al Gore invented the internet.(Yeah, I'm *that* much of a dinosaur.) My best friend read my stuff, and I read hers, and no one else ever, ever saw it.Except that one Star Wars piece I did in eighth grade. It became an English assignment. Got an A! I still have it; and it was bloody AWFUL. Only good thing about it is that I guessed the correct locale for the second film; an ice planet. But everything else remained unseen by others. Most of it is long, long gone. Occasionally I come across some scrawled sheets in a folder in my file cabinet. I look at it, shake my head and put it back. So...I know I probably could use a beta. And I'd sure like to help someone else out; with spelling, punctuation and grammar if nothing else!Asking with puppy dog eyes...see my baby in the pic!

Betas? [Aug. 6th, 2006|06:53 pm]Doctor Who Concrit
Is it presumable that looking for a beta here would be appropriate? Or not? Bacially, posting your work would invite a whole slew of betas, yes?Just a bit unnerved about my work [babies] going out into the big bad world just yet.
