Another Eagle flies! My brother who is 16 officialy got his Eagle scout rank this month. I am very proud of him.
His project was planting trees in a neighborhood park and painting a footbridge this last June 2007.

He has been in scouting since 1997 starting in tiger cubs. He crossed over and joined the troop in 2002.
I went with him to Philmount this summer as an adult leader.

I was the first in my family to get Eagle scout rank and now my brother.
I attained my Eagle scout rank in June 2001 and now my brother Dec. 2007.

Hi there Hi there I was informed by a friend about this group and just wanted to say hello to everyone. Yes I am an Eagle scout and it has been quite a journey, well here is how it all began.

I started scouting when I was in first grade as a tiger cub during the fall of 1991. I think my mom just enrolled me on a whim not really knowing how far this would go or how many people we would meet. In cub scouts during my elementary years my mom was a den leader. Since I was the oldest son in my family and no one else on either side of my family had been in scouts before it was a leaning experience for everyone in my family.
I got my Arrow of light Feb. of 1996 and crossed over into the Troop that year.
I really loved the troop a lot espacily going to summer camps and even the weekend campouts I just loved camping and being outside. Here are some of the camps I have been to.

1996- Camp Cornhusker merit badge camp Humbolt, NE

1997- Medicine Mountain Custer, South Dokota in the black hills.

1998- Boundry Waters Ely, Minniesota/Canada High adventure conneing. Awesome senery I loved it.
Also Camp Cornhusker. Spring camperee at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space center was really cool.

1999- Philmont New Mexico near Cimmeron, NM. A High adventure Back packing trip we took the second hardest trek. We climbed Mt. Baldy it was fun I loved it, but I think it almost killed my dad.
I was the only one in my Troop to also go to Medicne Mountin camp again that same year in SD.
Our troop hosted the fall camperee our theme was The Siege of MafeKing I also did my Order of the Arrow ordeal that same year.

Hey all,

One of the biggest things I learned in boy scouts was knots. We used to use them for everything, even tying up our counselors, have any of you had expereinces like that? We could never get our counselor so he couldn't get out, any suggestions?

Does anyone know of a point where someone has made it to the Eagle board then was turned down by the board?

I achieved the rank of Eagle in 1996... I was just going through my box of patches and got all nostalgic. It inspired me to see if there were other Eagle Scouts out there in cyberspace.

Boys Scouts was an amazing adventure... my troop went as far as Northern Tier in Canada and Philmont in New Mexico.

I miss camping and long for those days!

Hopefully, when I do have children, I can participate in scouting once again.

I haven't seen much activity on here in a while. I just got back from the Jamboree and I have some things I'd like to pass on to all of you and hopefully you will spread them as well. I went and talked with the scout master from marin county(the yoda patches) regarding the eagle scout issue. He told me the meaning behind the patch. It is more than just a patch. The main purpose in the creation of that patch is to create conversation. How many scouts have been able to have their court of honor at a jamboree, philmont, sea base, or any other high adventure scouting area? What is said at these ceremonies will be forgotten, you can always buy another eagle badge; however, the memory of when and where you had your court of honor will always remain if it is truly something you care about. How many of you remember where and when your eagle court was? How many of you remember the board of review? I believe the number of eagle scouts granted their courts of honor at the jamborees were 7 in 1997, 10 in 2001, and 13 in 2005. You don't have to go through Marin County to have this happen. If even one person takes the idea of having the courts at a special event, or creating a special item(patch or whatever) then typing all this out was worth while.

I remember that my eagle board was held on 12/7/2000 in my friend Nick Detrych's(also an eagle) living room. My court was small considering the size of my troop, but those who were closest to me all came and supported me. It was held in the basement of the church my cub scout pack meets at.

Feel free to talk to me on here or on aim: steinerplex.

Hello all.... Just joined this community, so maybe a brief bit about myself for starters. Earned my Eagle Award in Oct. '97 (at 13 yrs old), had 2 1/2 palmes worth of extra merit already so those were a waiting matter while I got 2-3 more for the silver palm to complete the hat-trick as it were. In fall 2002 I was selected for the Vigil Honor. For envolvement I joined scouting as a cub scout, crossed over, moved on through boy scouting in my troop (T-142 of River Grove, IL) going to camp and such, in '99 began working summers at my council's summer camps, which I have done since; this year will be my 7th (although more than likely last year) on staff as Services Director. I still stay as involved with my troop and scouting as I can while going to school out of state, which is pretty much limited to the occasional meeting over school breaks and OA functions on weekends when not too inconvenient. Other scouting experiences include Philmont treks in '98 and '02, 2001 Nat'l Jamboree, and being part of the first Philbreak crew, 302, in 2003.

YIS,
Jerry

I got my eagle in August. I was the first person in my troop in over 8 years to get my Eagle before I was 17. Currently, I am the SPL of Troop 414 in Bedford, NH, the largest troop in our district, close to 60 kids now. Which is big for New Hampshire.

New member info. Hey. Just posting some info. about me. I achieved Eagle Scout in May of 2004. I'm a brotherhood member in OA, although now inactive because I'm in college, and I havn't paid my dues. I'm from troop 379 in Longview, WA. I staffed at Camp Pioneer for the summer of 2004 as the Archery Director, and I'm going back this summer, but I'm told there's no guarantee as to where I'll work. Going to the University of Washington right now (aceiving Eagle Scout was the biggest reason that I got in, I'm sure).
