But despite the recent advances in the fields of educational measurement and special education, current accommodation research rarely involves preschool children. In this paper, we propose a theoretical model consisting of critical elements that involve a continuous and cyclical decision-making process aligned with developmentally appropriate practices addressing children and family needs. We also conducted research on a variety of methodologies that can be employed to examine the accommodated data and evaluate developmental assessments for different study purposes of early childhood special education.

The purpose was to investigate how embedding diversity and equity content impacted student perceptions and supported their cultural competence. Preand post-survey results (N = 50) show student awareness of biases and beliefs were positively influenced. Implications are examined related to course content and activities that could enhance students’ competencies and understanding to work with colleagues, children and families in diverse, inclusive settings. Introduction According to the U.S Census Bureau, more than twenty million children under the age of five years old are living in the United States. Of those twenty million children, 50.2 percent are from minority group or children of color (U.S. Department of Education, 2015). Furthermore, over one-third of students in public schools come from African, Asian, Hispanic and Native American backgr...

Gender and behavior have been studied on children of later ages, i.e.; elementary, middle, high school, and higher education, but little has been researched regarding children of younger ages. Researchers of this study used quantitative methods to examine, how gender and the effects on child behavior in early childhood classrooms. The researchers recruited a total of 105 preschoolers and fourteen classroom teachers from seven different classrooms in the Southwest Central region in the United States, to investigate, if there were any significant difference in preschoolers’ behaviors when compared to their genders. Research findings showed that boys demonstrated higher aggressive and hyperactive distractible behaviors than girls, which adds to an emergent body of research on gender and its effects...

An additional goal of the study is to evaluate the two math anxiety assessments to determine which instrument better reflects early middle school students' math anxiety. The results revealed that the gain scores of students' math performances between the two groups did not yield significant differences; however, the mean of the gain scores in the treatment group accepting the problem solving strategy intervention was higher than the control group. Based on statistical results, survey A regarding math anxiety displayed higher reliability and consistency, but survey B was preferred from the students' perspective. Research and educators can further examine the gap between statistical analys...

The aim of this paper is to provide a short and concise review which can be used to inform affected children and adults; family members of affected children and adults, and other medical, paramedical, non-medical, and educational professionals about the disorder. This paper has also tried to look into the process of how ADHD develops; what are the associated problems; and how many other children and adults are affected by such problems all over the world basically to understand ADHD more precisely in order to develop a better medical and or non-medical multimodal intervention plan. If pre-school teachers and clinicians are aware of what the research tells us about ADHD, the varying theories of its ca...

Research studies show that effective preparation of good teachers includes intensive practical experience with K-12 students under carefully supervised conditions in collaboration with experienced teachers. The field studies/practicum is a compulsory part of the teacher education program. Field studies/practicum in special education programs are dealt with in different ways at different universities. The role of the field studies/practicum in undergraduate and graduate special education programs is very important. What kind of field studies/practicum best prepares prospective special education teachers for classroom practice? Based on real life experience and research, the authors have proposed a reinforced life experience practicum framework, which prepares prospective special education teachers for effective classroom practices.

These relevant variables contain social and cultural demographic, relationship, and personality variables. In addition, temperaments were also discovered to effect reciprocal interaction between father and children rather than focusing on father characteristics only. These different variables blended together are associated with the multiple dimensions of father involvement. Even though father involvement has multiple dynamic dimensions and is difficult to address all of the possible variables in one study; this writer presented a multiple pathway model of father involvement addressing the possible influences on cognitive, language, physical, and social development through examining previous studies. This article could serve as an initial stage in providing future research a better awareness of how to enhance child development through a higher quality of father involvement.

During the process of exploration, development and improvement of the instruction, the curricula and teaching strategies have been justified and verified. The framework of the question-pose has associated children’s measurement concept and operation level of problem-solving. The pattern of question-pose has influenced on the presentation of children’s thinking and drawing. Children’s creative thinking has developed from the brainstorm strategy with varied operations and the restriction strategy with measurement concepts. Children’s higher creative thinking level has been stimulated from the strategies of analysis and practice thinking that include explanation, examination, clarification, prompting and emphasizing misconception. These teaching strategies have provided children with opportunities and experiences to accommodate their misconceptions and refine mathematics concepts.

Parenting encompasses a variety of dimensions and patterns in different cultures and countries. I... more Parenting encompasses a variety of dimensions and patterns in different cultures and countries. It is also difficult to define parenting in each culture since many factors and environmental variables shape parents’ thinking. Even though each culture shares many of the same knowledge, rules, and values; each culture also has their own attitudes and languages. These individual specific values could be transformed and assimilated with other cultures through traveling and immigration. Over the past few decades, a number of studies have been conducted on cultural difference adaption. These cultural different adaption studies revealed how cultural values and individual behaviors have shifted and the impact the shift has had on parents’ thoughts about their childrearing strategies (Haslberger, 2005). Cultural adaption can be considered as a transformation process which occurs within individuals who have experienced their primary socialization process in one major culture and then must adapt to a new and unfamiliar culture (Kim & Ruben, 1988). Cross-cultural adaptation is a complex process in which people become capable of functioning effectively in a different culture. In this process, people try to adapt to the different culture and change their behaviors. Though studying this cultural adaptation process, future studies should explore whether the cultural adaption process influences parenting beliefs and parenting styles.

More specifically, building on the historical and theoretical perspectives on language acquisition we argue that there is a connection between Chomsky’s theories and the field of phenomenology. We discuss language development in children to illustrate the overarching implications of Chomsky’s theories and phenomenology on language acquisition for both originate from Husserl’s work on language expressions. We thus conclude that Chomsky’s theories and phenomenology impact both first and second language learners.
