The authors explore the experience of mothers, of how digital peer-to-peer (P2P) platforms can affect their self-perceived employability and skills deterioration by unlocking human capital through technology acceptance.Design/methodology/approachThis study adopted a pragmatism-based approach incorporating using a single-case study research design with the Gioia methodology. It utilised a semi-structured telephone survey to collect data to explore the decisions around usage of a newly developed mobile P2P app, aiming to support employability among mothers. The comparison of Australians, Chinese and Sri Lankans’ consumers salient attitudes toward payment methods at the Point-of-Sale (POS) provides businesses with insights into the factors impacting consumers' payment preference.Design/methodology/approachA qualitative methodology was employed for data collection from Australian, Chinese and Sri Lankan participants. A combination of focus groups and individual interviews were carried out with a total of 35 participants.FindingsResults indicate that factors of perceived relative advantage, perceived compatibility, perceived risk, perceived rewards, perceived situations and social influence impact consumers' payment preference at POS across all three countries, however the degree of impact varies in importance across the three countries.Practical implicationsIn the cross-cultural comparis...

The paper is based on a test of four different simple call to action constructions. The users clearly prefer constructions that have a high explainability and feels intuitive. Hence, the design should have a high level of transparency and show the user straight away what it demands from the user and what the result of the action is. Furthermore, the design should have a high usability to make it clear how to use the call to action

Three educational institutions are working together with community partners to provide a range of... more Three educational institutions are working together with community partners to provide a range of educational programs, training opportunities, research, and human and physical resources in a rapidly growing regional centre. A multijaceted array of collaborative programs and partnerships meant to create a Learning Precinct in Joondalup, Western Australia, have grown into a vision for a "Learning City" where the elements of learning and education are integrated with each other and with all relevant community institutions. This integration facilitates the learning needs of local residents with a view to making the community more flexible, responsive to change (especially global economic and technological changes), and collaborative at the local or regional level.

This research study explores how the Commonwealth Bank of Australia-CBA managed to respond to a r... more This research study explores how the Commonwealth Bank of Australia-CBA managed to respond to a recent online crisis caused by money laundering allegations levelled by AUSTRAC-Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre. Employing the case study approach, this study has examined how CBA managed the crisis on social media. Findings suggested that media releases focused on five elements in crisis communication response i.e. acknowledgement and resolution of issue, reassurance of compliance and coordination, software error – cause of breaches, assurance of conveying information, and investment made in financial crime laws compliance. On the other hand, CBA’s responses on social media follow knowledge transfer and assimilation elements, but lack in knowledge acquisition

This paper discusses the usage behaviour of brides-to-be in terms of bridal magazines and website... more This paper discusses the usage behaviour of brides-to-be in terms of bridal magazines and websites. Four hundred and forty six brides-to-be were questioned on their usage and attitudes toward print (magazines) and online (websites) when gathering their wedding planning information. Results indicated that respondents in this liminal state of moving from single to married status were clearly focused on investigating wedding products and services and extensively use both forms of media. Differences were evident in respondents’ usage of each medium dependent on wedding budgets, the particular wedding planning stages and the perceived comprehensiveness/ease of use of each medium. As a result it is extremely important for bridal magazines to have a website counterpart or extension, to increase their level of brand loyalty. These findings extend contemporary research into magazine consumption and introduce the uniqueness of the bridal media market. Implications for the bridal magazine industry are discussed

This study examines the scope to which different factors influence customer's satisfaction with e... more This study examines the scope to which different factors influence customer's satisfaction with e-retailer's Website in the context of online buying using Technological acceptance model (TAM). The main goal of this paper is not only to investigate the efficacy of e-Services provided by the online retailers but also considers how customers can benefit from those services in Pakistan. To analyze the data of a conceptual model authors used Structural equation modeling (SEM) techniques. Result of 205 respondents' reveals that, Site ease of use, Site Informativeness and Site trust positively influence customer satisfaction. Future research and recommendations for practitioners and marketing managers are discussed in the end.

PurposeThe purpose of the paper is to describe the impediments to information technology (IT) ado... more PurposeThe purpose of the paper is to describe the impediments to information technology (IT) adoption and possible solutions in the context of business relationships by drawing on case studies conducted in both Australia and Finland in the heavy manufacturing sector.Design/methodology/approachThe in depth case studies were conducted in the steel manufacturing industry in Finland and in the marine defence (shipbuilding) industry in Australia.FindingsThe findings indicate that doubts about the security of shared information, missing mutual benefits, incompatibility of IT systems, inadequate IT resources, uncertainty about the future directions of the relationship, information rich working routines, i.e. face to face communication, IT deployment not being part of the industry standard and investments not justified by the relationship seems to be the most significant impediments to IT adoption in heavy manufacturing in Australia and Finland.Research limitations/implicationsThis paper f...

This paper compares the implementation process in Australia with Slovenia, looking at the benefits, drawbacks and success factors of ehealth implementation. The authors use case studies collected in each country to discuss issues around ehealth implementation. Though Slovenia has progressed much further down the road of ehealth the commonality of the experiences between both cases was striking.
