Who gets to label a person?

That is part of the debate sparked by Sophie Turner’s comments during an interview with Rolling Stone.

The “Game of Thrones” star chatted with the publication for their latest cover story and talked about her sisterhood with co-star Maisie Williams and her engagement to singer Joe Jonas.

Turner was 21 when Jonas popped the question and the now 23-year-old told Rolling Stone she didn’t think it was going to happen for her at any age.

“I was fully preparing myself to be single for the rest of my life,” she said. “I think once you’ve found the right person, you just know.”

The actress added “I feel like I’m much older a soul than I am in age. I feel like I’ve lived enough life to know. I’ve met enough guys to know – I’ve met enough girls to know.”

Asked to expand on the part about girls, Turner said “Everyone experiments.”

“It’s part of growing up,” she said. “I love a soul, not a gender.”

That set off tweets proclaiming that Turner had “come out.”

But it also set off a discussion about the fact that Turner didn’t specifically label her sexuality and some said she’s the only one who can.

“Sophie Turner did NOT label her sexuality,” one person tweeted. “This does not mean you can label it for her. She’s a real person not a fictional character.”
