Lightweight construction could be a pathway towards more sustainability. The production of high-e... more Lightweight construction could be a pathway towards more sustainability. The production of high-end structural components poses a challenge to bring about the closed loop recycling of worn components and increase the use of recycled aluminum scraps. Designers will need to integrate the environmental dimension in the design of aluminum-alloyed parts over their entire lifecycle. Although many ecodesign methods and tools are currently available, there is a gap in their integration into the design process in industry, as well as in the daily practice of the designers. Moreover, existing ecodesign methods are not tailored to the lightweight context. This paper proposes a holistic approach to ecodesign geared to operate within a PLM (Product Life cycle Management) system. A PLM system is a set of tools used to create and manage the product information through its whole life cycle. Within the mechanical design area, a PLM system is composed of the traditional design tools such as Computer-aided design (CAD), Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), Computer-aided engineering (CAE), etc … and allows bidirectional informational flows between the embedded tools. The proposition aims to foster sustainable design solutions for high-end structural parts used in the transport sector, especially in the automotive and aeronautic industries. It consists on developing a PLM-based single-block ecodesign method in order to achieve: (1) a simplified environmental assessment of a reference product and its design alternatives by providing results in a comparative way; and (2) the stimulation of improvement ideas and a solutionsgeneration phase thanks to dedicated environmental guidelines. The expected result is an efficient iterative and continuous ecodesign tasks between the environmental assessment and improvement. The proposition is conceived to be handled by the design team and to exchange product information with their traditional design tools within a PLM platform.

Process simulation based on virtual reality can comprehensively present the real process on the c... more Process simulation based on virtual reality can comprehensively present the real process on the computer. It can play an important role in the development and manufacturing field of diffusion furnace. This paper researches the establishment of consecutive diffusion process and the key techniques of process simulation. In the process of creating process simulation, V code would be created to control motion of each part. A simulation that reflects on the real process could be acquired with this research. This process simulation not only shortens the development time of diffusion furnace, but also makes designer have a perspective to the defects of product in the design process. It promotes the effective of design, and reduces changes in later period of design.

As part of the evolution of CAD solutions on the market, there is a particular interest in new generation software which are distributed as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) such as Onshape, 3D Experience, Fusion 360, etc. In order to prepare engineering students for integrating such software within the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC), a further practicing study is carried out in this paper. This study aims to identify, analyze, experiment, evaluate and compare the capacities of Cloud-based CAD solutions on the market and in scientific research work in order to define potential benefits for their implementation in mechanical engineering education. Therefore, we tested two use scenarios of the two Cloud-based software; Onshape and Fusion 360 on a case study. Then, we discussed the comparison results.

Continuously growing pressures due to the shorter development lead-time and the uncertainty of in... more Continuously growing pressures due to the shorter development lead-time and the uncertainty of increasingly complex market require a high flexibility from production companies and their manufacturing systems. Comparing with large enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) which lack concentrated market power and powerful original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) have difficulty and risk to develop flexible and customised robotic manufacturing systems. Nowadays, although various design methods for robotic manufacturing systems have been made to fix this problem, however, there still exist two main challenges: flexibility in design and high degree of customisation. To deal with the existing challenges, this paper proposes an SME-oriented design approach based on a configuration design paradigm. This method can offer decision support to designers to form flexible architecture for robotic manufacturing systems and, at the same time, give more interactive configuration freedom to customers so as to achieve a high productivity and flexibility for customisation but with less risk and cost of product development. To validate the proposed method, two design cases of robotic manufacturing systems are presented for demonstration.

Many software systems are available to support the product lifecycle, especially during product design, such as CAD, PDM, CAE, SDM, etc. Most product development process is performed using these systems, which through their rich user interfaces allow skilled professionals to express their expertise and knowledge using the tools and functions the software is willing to provide them. At the end of the day, the result of their work is a model, built through a user interface, and stored in a repository. The goal of our research is to reverse engineer the user's knowledge by analysing his/her actions with the software system, based on the assumption that the process will itself be meta-knowledge driven and that we will focus on engineering software which provide semantically rich user interfaces. The aim of this paper is to investigate the idea of building reusable expert knowledge from actions on engineering software user interfaces. It first outlines existing works from different fields and identifies remaining issues. It then suggest an approach to address these issues and put together an operational system.

Aiming at the customization, design quality and design efficiency requirements in product design,... more Aiming at the customization, design quality and design efficiency requirements in product design, this paper studies the technology of intelligent modeling of Moulded Case Circuit Breaker. This paper presents intelligent model technology. First, presents the definition of intelligent model, and then studies the process of how to realize intelligent model, including extracting key geometric parameters, defining feature control parameters, controlling topological structure and controlling model rule. Finally, combined with the intelligent model technology, realize of intelligent modeling of Moulded Case Circuit Breaker. The result shows that this technology can meet higher design requirements, and finally enhance the competitiveness of enterprises.

Il peut s'agir : d'etablissement de previsions ; d'etude de simulation ; de gestion de la tracabilite, tous trois desormais geres de maniere informatisee pour accelerer la prise en compte de modifications ; de versions, d'etudes de cas, ou encore d'optimisation. Of these solutions are aluminum wrought alloys that offer high potentials for dramatic weight reduction of structural parts. Nevertheless, the production of virgin aluminum is, however, highly energy consuming. Hence, and in SuPLight project, we are interested in recycled aluminum. The aim of this project is to address new industrial models for sustainable light weight solutions-with recycling in high-end structural components based on wrought alloys. In this article we address the issue of designing the reverse logistics chain assuring the needed volume of recycled aluminum for the production of L-shaped Front Lower Control Arms for personal cars.

It is divided into three categories: assembly simulation for the center with product design, assembly simulation for the center with assembly planning and assembly simulation for the center with virtual prototype. According to the characteristics of the integrated house assembly and modeling, it puts forward level assembly analysis method and studies the assembly system planning, assembly sequence planning and assembly path planning simulation technology. The results show that through the production system and assembly operation simulation technology research, it improves the rationality of the integrated house assembly process planning.

It is divided into three categories: assembly simulation for the center with product design, assembly simulation for the center with assembly planning and assembly simulation for the center with virtual prototype. According to the characteristics of the integrated house assembly and modeling, it puts forward level assembly analysis method and studies the assembly system planning, assembly sequence planning and assembly path planning simulation technology. The results show that through the production system and assembly operation simulation technology research, it improves the rationality of the integrated house assembly process planning.
