council, committee, board, panel

councilは、特定のテーマや問題について議論し、意見を交換する公式な集まりや組織を指す。地方自治体の議会や、専門的な分野での意思決定を行う団体などに用いられることが多い。

「city council」（市議会）、「advisory council」（諮問委員会）、「student council」（生徒会）など、councilの前にはそのcouncilの機能や所属する組織を示す形容詞がしばしば置かれる。

The city council will convene to discuss the new zoning laws.（市議会は新しい区画整理法について議論するために集まる。）

She was elected to the advisory council for her expertise in environmental issues.（彼女は環境問題に関する専門知識を持っているため、諮問委員会に選出された。）

The student council organized a charity event to help the local community.（生徒会は地域社会を支援するためのチャリティーイベントを企画した。）

committeeは、特定の目的や任務を持つ小規模なグループを指す。しばしば企業や組織内で特定のプロジェクトやイベントの計画、実行のために設けられる。

「steering committee」（運営委員会）、「executive committee」（執行委員会）、「organizing committee」（組織委員会）など、committeeの前にはそのcommitteeの役割を示す形容詞が頻繁に用いられる。

The steering committee is responsible for guiding the project's direction.（運営委員会はプロジェクトの方向性を導く責任がある。）

Members of the executive committee will meet to finalize the budget.（執行委員会のメンバーは予算を最終決定するために会合を持つ。）

The organizing committee for the festival has been working tirelessly for months.（祭りの組織委員会は数ヶ月にわたり休むことなく働いている。）

boardは、組織の方針や運営に関する決定を行う役員会や理事会を指す。企業の取締役会や、非営利組織の理事会などに使用される。

「board of directors」（取締役会）、「board of trustees」（理事会）、「advisory board」（顧問委員会）など、boardの前にはそのboardが果たす役割や構成を示す名詞がしばしば配置される。

The board of directors voted to approve the merger.（取締役会は合併を承認するために投票した。）

She serves on the board of trustees for a local charity.（彼女は地元の慈善団体の理事会に所属している。）

An advisory board has been created to provide expert opinions on the matter.（その問題について専門的な意見を提供するために顧問委員会が設立された。）

panelは、通常、特定のトピックや問題について意見や情報を提供するために集まる専門家のグループを指す。会議やセミナーでの討論会、裁判の陪審団などに使用される。

「expert panel」（専門家パネル）、「discussion panel」（討論パネル）、「jury panel」（陪審団）など、panelの前にはそのpanelの特性や目的を示す形容詞や名詞が用いられることが多い。

An expert panel was convened to address the environmental crisis.（環境危機に対処するために専門家パネルが召集された。）

The discussion panel at the conference sparked a lively debate among the attendees.（会議での討論パネルは出席者の間で活発な議論を引き起こした。）

She was selected to be part of the jury panel for a high-profile case.（彼女は注目を集める裁判の陪審団の一員に選ばれた。）
