Jubal... (original) (raw)

...is perhaps the last of his breed- a fallen warrior, unable to take up the legacy of his grandsire Samiel. With the destruction of Salout, the Great Rift grew between Salubri factions- those who would seek vengance upon the Tremere for this unpardonable act, and those who protested it was not the father's way.

Jubal, though pledged to the Code of Samiel, could not turn his heart cold to the sufferings of his bretheren at the hands of Tremere. Vengance at any price meant sacrificing too many of his Healer bretheren on the altar of Samiel's ego.

For the first two centuries after the Ancient's consumption, Jubal
sheperded lost Salubri Healers to gather at a monostary in Syria managed by his Cappadocian companion, Ariel, a long time ally and friend. This meant travelling the length and breadth of both Islamic and Christian lands, encountering many kindred along the way.

As with all great tales of cooperation among the Undead, it came to an end when the Cappadocian was persuaded to embrace a Giovanni (Musa), over Jubal's strong objections.

The Giovanni-born Cappadocian abbot, Musa, knew the opportunity presented once he discovered the secret of the growing Salubri Stronghold. The defenses of the monastary were severe, indeed, however, and even his Tremere contacts were hesitant to mount a direct Assault without the aide of a third party.
Azarapel, scion son of the Baali, posing as a member of the Giovanni-Cappadocians, as an assassin and aide, finally saw the opportunity to reap the harvest of his hatred for the Salubri. Working in conjunction with the Tremere, his powerful magics rent the supernatural defenses of the monostary, and targeted Jubal, the pillar upon which the Salubri community based itself.

The fall of the monostary was a horrific page in Salubri and Cappadocian history, a large part of the Healer line butchered in a single night, and perhaps the prime example of the failure of Salubri Unity movements.

Jubal was believed destroyed in the hellish inferno that consumed the innermost chambers of the monostary, but only after killing Musa with his bare hands, a sickly green light eminating from his third eye. Ariel was believed to have fallen at the fangs of Musa prior to his own death.

In truth, Azarapel's infernal magics were not sufficient to lay low Jubal; in attempting to 'wipe the scourge of Jubal from the Memory of man'. Azarapel managed to clean Jubal's memory of his existance, save for hellish visions of the fall of the Monostary.

Awakening in the ruins of the monostary, and guided only by the fragmented recollections of the fall, Jubal believes himself to be Ariel, Cappadocian master of the Monostary. With his second sight, he has found the strange Enochian script of both his and Ariel's writings of seven hundred years ago, to trusted associates (the group). He has sent out tentative feelers, as he adjusts to the modern age, to discover if any remain from this association, under the identity of Ariel..... (and from there...play on!)
