Live and Let Live (original) (raw)
For those friends who stuck around and didn't unfriend me (after more than a year of my not-posting), you are truly troopers, and I love you all! Hence, why I have returned to the beloved land of LJ. I need to keep up with everyone! Lord, is catching up on my Friends List going to ever take a lot of time!
Okay, so here is the downlow on everything that has happened since I stopped posting. Brad and I DID split up, and it IS permanent. He and I have both found other people that make us happy, and realized that our being together was volatile. Hell, the reason I stopped posting is largely because I couldn't stand the fact that nearly all of my posts were me griping about him. It didn't feel fair to those who had to read it, and friends who were begging me to leave him. I appreciate great friends who helped me through everything and stuck by me. Special thanks to rawee1 . You were my rock during some hard times, and gave me the best advice I could have asked for. And to all of my friends who watched me suffer and still stood by me, you mean the world to me.
So, I am living, again, in California. Permanently, this time. I moved here (for the final time, bringing with me all of my belongings and my vehicle - to assure nothing would sway me back to Memphis where I would be in close contact with duranki. We have tried to maintain a friendship over the past seven months, and are only now becoming successful at it. It just takes a lot of time to overcome something like that. I'll admit - I was a zombie for the first couple of months I was here. It took the love of friends and family to pull me out of it. And special thanks to the wonderful man in my current icon, Ryan Willingham, my loving and supportive boyfriend of six months. We have been on and off since last year, and he really took a lot of crap from me when I chose to go back to Memphis. But he waited for me, and I couldn't have asked that of someone. He is truly a one-of-a-kind man. I'm glad I made it back in time to see him obtain his Masters Degree. I'm very proud of him, and am lucky to have him.
I saw a plastic surgeon two weeks ago to see about having an abdominoplasty. I have worked out very hard to get to my goal weight, but still have an issue with my tummy. So the insurance is covering the procedure on July 28th, and I am very lucky to be using the best plastic surgeon in Southern California, Dr. Gupta. I am very excited about the aspect of bikinis and belly rings, and looking forward to shopping for new clothes ;)
My family purchased a house in El Cajon (a city in San Diego) a month ago. We are all moved in now, and very happy. 4 bed - 3 bath - pool and jacuzzi, and the backyard is a genuine paradise. An acre of fruit trees, flowers and roses from all over the world (the previous owners were very into plants and flowers from the rainforest and brought many of them here to the backyard where they bloom now. I have to post pics of some of these crazy looking flowers!) and the kidney pool and hot tub. A nice patio, as well. We are very close to our neighbors (a dad - who is my dad's best friend - and his sons and twin daughters). I have become very close with the twins, and we put a door in so we could go in and out of one another's back yards. I guess that is weirdly close for neighbors, but we have fun :)
I am interviewing for positions out here, mostly academic adviser and counseling positions. I am doing nanny work until I find something. I had an interview with the University of Phoenix last week (it was the most insanely professional group interview I've ever been to) - so I am really praying for that position. But we'll see! Till then, I'm tossing my resumes to any and everyone who will take it. :) The only regret I have about leaving Memphis (other than the obvious, missing everyone) is that I was offered a position as a Head Counselor with the Millington Naval Base. So it sucked to have to turn that down, but I'm sure something here will be great!
I hope everyone is doing great, and I've missed ya!
