The objective of this work was to evaluate the spatial and temporal variability of the dry matter... more The objective of this work was to evaluate the spatial and temporal variability of the dry matter yield of irrigated corn for silage, as well as its economic return. The study was conducted in an irrigated silage corn field of 18.9 ha in the municipality of São Carlos, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The spatial variability of the yield of three crop seasons, normalized yield indexes, production cost, profit, and soil electrical conductivity (EC) were modeled using semivariograms. Yield maps were obtained by kriging, and management zones were mapped based on average yield, normalized index, and EC. The results showed a structured spatial variability of corn yield, production cost, profit, and soil EC within the irrigated area. The adopted precision agriculture tools were useful to indicate zones of higher yield and economic return. The sequences of yield maps and the analysis of spatial and temporal variability allow the definition of management zones, and soil EC is positively related to corn yield.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the vegetation index and spatial variability of physical and chemical soil properties in an integrated crop-livestock system (ICLS). Soil samples were taken from a 6.9 ha area in a regular hexagon grid at 0-0.20 m depths. Soil P, K, Ca, Mg, and cation exchange capacity - CEC; base saturation; clay and sand were analyzed. Soil electrical conductivity (ECa) was measured with a contact sensor. The site was evaluated at the end of the corn season (April) and during forage production (October) using Landsat 5 images, remote sensing techniques and a geographic information system (GIS). The purpose of the present study was to investigate the fatigue behavior of Al-6063 alloy using s... more The purpose of the present study was to investigate the fatigue behavior of Al-6063 alloy using standard rotating-bending test. Corrosion-fatigue test on similar samples was also performed at stress levels corresponding to fatigue test. The samples obtained from fatigue tests were considered as control samples and the results obtained from fatigue test in air were compared to the results obtained from corrosion-fatigue test in liquid seawater. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Optical Microscopy (OM) were used to investigate the micro-structural features and crack characteristics of the specimens. The results obtained from fatigue and corrosion-fatigue test revealed that the presence of corrosion environment decreases the fatigue life. Additionally, microstructure studies on the fracture surface due to corrosion-fatigue revealed that initiation of fatigue crack starts from the depth of corrosion steps and proliferate towards the sample center simultaneous with the penetration of liquid into the crack. Moreover, the appearance, size and propagation way of fatigue crack in corrosion-fatigue test was completely different from the cracks created in a fatigue test. The fracture surface due to corrosion-fatigue test was also different from the fatigue fracture surface. Further studies on failure levels revealed that the ratio of region area due to fatigue to the region area due to final failure was strongly decreased in the corrosion-fatigue test.

Highlights the employment of methodologies in remote sensing used in coupled to a Geographic Information System (GIS), adapted or developed for agricultural use. Aiming this, the application of Agricultural Mobile Robots is a strong tendency, mainly in the European Union, USA and Japan. In Brazil, researches are necessary for the development of robotics platforms, serving as a basis for semi-autonomous and autonomous navigation systems. The aim of this work is to describe the project of an experimental platform for data acquisition in field for the study of the spatial variability and development of agricultural robotics technologies to operate in agricultural environments. The proposal is based on a systematization of scientific work used as a basis for the choice of the design parameters utilized for the construction of the model. The kinematic study of the mechanical structure was made by the virtual prototyping process, based on modeling and simulating of the tension applied in frame, using the finite elements method, based on basic concepts of kinematics of mobile robots and previous experiences.

A modelagem, como meio de análise de processos do agronegócio, bem como de cadeias produtivas, at... more A modelagem, como meio de análise de processos do agronegócio, bem como de cadeias produtivas, atende à demanda por métodos apropriados. O presente trabalho objetivou avaliar a aderência dos conceitos de modelagem e de rede de Petri aplicados ao complexo agroindustrial da cana-de-açúcar. Utilizou-se uma empresa real para a aquisição das informações. Os modelos das cadeias de atividades foram validados com o uso da rede de Petri, por meio de um método de análise em que são simulados todos os caminhos possíveis e os estados que o sistema modelado pode atingir. O estudo resultou em 14 conjuntos de etapas de produção, englobando todas as operações unitárias das cadeias produtivas do açúcar e do álcool, desde o plantio da cana até o armazenamento do açúcar e do álcool.

Intensification of tropical grass pastures can be achieved through the grazing rotation, forage a... more Intensification of tropical grass pastures can be achieved through the grazing rotation, forage availability in the dry season, and building up soil fertility by liming and balanced fertilizer supplying. The knowledge of spatial variability soil properties is useful in the rational use of inputs, as in the variable rate application of lime and fertilizers. PA requires methods to indicate the spatial variability of soil reducing the need for expensive and intensive sampling. The objective of this work was to map and evaluate the soil chemical properties and maps the site specific liming and fertilizer need in a irrigated tropical pasture. The study was conducted in an area of 8 ha of pasture Mombaca-grass (Panicum maximum) irrigated and intensive managed in a rotational system with 48 paddocks in Sao Carlos, SP, Brazil. Soil samples were collected at 0?0.2 m depth with 6 sub-samples in each paddock. The values of soil P, K, CEC and basis saturation were analyzed by traditional soil testing. Apparent soil electrical conductivity (ECa) was measured with contact sensor. Spatial variability soil properties and site specific liming and fertilizer need were modeled using semivariograms and maps were obtained by kriging with Vesper software. Crop variation at this spatial scale was not affected by topography and other soil chemical properties related. NDVI and ECa had the same tendency of dry matter estimation. Results showed that the soil properties of study area are very homogeneous, and variable rate of potassium fertilizer has the potential to be adopted in the study area.

Os modelos das cadeias de atividades foram validados com o uso da rede de Petri, por meio de um método de análise em que são simulados todos os caminhos possíveis e os estados que o sistema modelado pode atingir. O estudo resultou em 14 conjuntos de etapas de produção, englobando todas as operações unitárias das cadeias produtivas do açúcar e do álcool, desde o plantio da cana até o armazenamento do açúcar e do álcool.

The knowledge of spatial variability soil properties is useful in the rational use of inputs, as in the variable rate application of lime and fertilizers. PA requires methods to indicate the spatial variability of soil reducing the need for expensive and intensive sampling. The objective of this work was to map and evaluate the soil chemical properties and maps the site specific liming and fertilizer need in a irrigated tropical pasture. The study was conducted in an area of 8 ha of pasture Mombaca-grass (Panicum maximum) irrigated and intensive managed in a rotational system with 48 paddocks in Sao Carlos, SP, Brazil. Soil samples were collected at 0?0.2 m depth with 6 sub-samples in each paddock. The values of soil P, K, CEC and basis saturation were analyzed by traditional soil testing. Apparent soil electrical conductivity (ECa) was measured with contact sensor. Spatial variability soil properties and site specific liming and fertilizer need were modeled using semivariograms and maps were obtained by kriging with Vesper software. Crop variation at this spatial scale was not affected by topography and other soil chemical properties related. NDVI and ECa had the same tendency of dry matter estimation. Results showed that the soil properties of study area are very homogeneous, and variable rate of potassium fertilizer has the potential to be adopted in the study area.
