Distribution of food baskets to needy families and displaced persons from Sudan in Rebiana (original) (raw)
The Municipality of Rebiana carried out a comprehensive relief campaign, during which large quantities of basic food aid were distributed to low-income and needy families within the administrative boundaries of the municipality, located in southeastern Libya, as well as to a large number of Sudanese families who recently arrived due to the difficult humanitarian conditions in their country.
The municipality’s media office stated on its Facebook page on Sunday that the campaign was launched on Saturday, as part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to alleviate the living burdens on citizens and displaced guests, in response to the notable rise in commodity prices in local markets and the resulting decline in the purchasing power of citizens and residents.
The media office quoted the head of the municipality’s steering committee as saying that the implementation of this campaign was the result of joint coordination and close cooperation with a number of local relief agencies and international organizations, emphasizing that this aid came in response to requests submitted by the municipality to cover growing needs and address the influx of displaced persons.
He also emphasized the municipality’s commitment to ensuring that support reaches those who are entitled to it through precise mechanisms based on organized and up-to-date databases.
