Maintenance and restoration work continues in the Old City of Hun, one of the most prominent historical landmarks in the municipality of Jufra, with the aim of preserving the historical urban heritage and safeguarding the cultural identity of the region, given the city’s distinctive local architectural character, which represents an important part of the national heritage.

The ongoing work includes the maintenance of a number of streets and alleys, the repair of sections damaged by the passage of time, and the implementation of general cleaning efforts, all of which contribute to improving the overall appearance of the old city and highlighting its historical and architectural value.

Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed Zakoub, a geographer and head of the City Memory Association in Houn, told Alwasat on Tuesday that the ongoing maintenance and restoration work is part of a plan to complete the targeted phases, ensuring the preservation of this important historical landmark and enhancing its cultural and tourist role.

He added that the Old City stands as a living testament to Hun’s history and urban heritage, which necessitates continued efforts to preserve it and safeguard its components.
