Al-Baour and Russian Ambassador Aganin Discuss the Latest Developments in Libya and the Enhancement of Bilateral Cooperation (original) (raw)
Taher Al-Baour, the acting head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Government of National Unity, discussed the latest developments in Libya and the development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields with Russia’s ambassador to Libya, Aydar Aganin, on Monday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stated on its Facebook page that the meeting “addressed prospects for strengthening and developing bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields, in a manner that serves mutual interests and supports the existing partnership between them.”
Latest Developments in Libya
It added that the two sides “exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest, foremost among them the latest developments in Libya and efforts to support the path toward stability and the consolidation of security, leading to the success of the political process and the fulfillment of the aspirations of the Libyan people.”
During the meeting, both sides also emphasized the importance of continuing consultation and coordination on issues of mutual interest and strengthening diplomatic communication channels to serve mutual interests and contribute to supporting stability and regional cooperation.
The Strength of Libyan-Russian Relations
At the conclusion of the meeting the two sides reaffirmed the strength of Libyan-Russian relations and agreed to continue coordination and consultation in the coming period, thereby strengthening the bonds of cooperation between the two countries and advancing the common interests of the two friendly peoples.
The Russian Embassy in Libya added that the meeting included “discussions on pressing issues of bilateral cooperation as well as coordination and cooperation between the two countries on the international stage.”
