Reinier, a classic No. 10 in the same mould as Kaká or Rai (original) (raw)
Real Madrid maintain their Brazilian recruitment policy with international talent spotter at the club Juni Calafat having an eye for quality, as recent signings in Vinicius and Rodrygo attest. The latest acquisition from the South American nation is Reinier with the player creating a major buzz in the domestic game with his performances for Serie A and Libertadores champions Flamengo. Having just turned 18, Reinier is certainly a key player with a more than promising future ahead and destined to make a name for himself in the yellow 'Canarinha' shirt too at international level.

U-23 debut
Reinier is the classic Brazilian No. 10, with a player of his like not surfacing from the nation in quite some time. Elegance, great technical ability but also strong and direct, he was discovered at the Sudamericano U-15 tournament in 2017 but it wasn't until two years later at the U-17 championship where we got to see what the player was all about. His fine goals, with the lob against Colombia being a stand-out put Reiner on the global map. He didn't play at the World Cup U-17 tournament as he was already heavily involved with club side and because the Brazilian FA (CBF) offered him the chance to play in the Tokyo 2020 pre-Olympic games and he was involved in Brazil's debut in the Group B game as they overcame Peru 1-0.

Flamengo
His progression with Flamengo has been nothing short of stunning and under coach Jorge Jesus as he made his Serie A debut with "O Mengao" on August 4th (2019) as they faced Bahía. In his limited playing time in the 2019 Copa Libertadores campaign, the Brasilia born player was undaunted by the bigger stage and offered accomplished performances in the red and black hooped shirt. Reinier has been used on the wing but his best position is in a more central role. He reminds me as somewhat of a fusion of Rai with the modern touch of Kaká. In short, he really is a fantastic and promising talent and another fine signing from Calafat.
