תל m. (b. h.; תלל; cmp. דלל) 1) hill, mound. Meg. 14a וכ׳ תל . .. לאחד one had a mound in his feld, and another had a trench. Ib. תילך לי מכור sell me thy mound (to fill up my trench). Ber. 30a; Cant. RR. to IV, 4, v. פפה. Ib. to V, 11 תל ולעשותו . . . יכולות they can ruin a world and make it a mound (ruin); a. fr. -- Pl. תלים, תלין, תי׳. Men.. םb ת׳ חילי (later ed. ת׳ תילין), v. קוין I; Tanh. B'resh. 1; Erub. 21b. Cant. תל, תלא, תי׳ ch. same, mound, ruins. Targ. Deut. XIII, 17. Targ. Jer. XLIX, 2; a. e. -- Ber. 58b . . . ביתא בת׳ נפל השתא (Ms. M. כת׳ ליה נפל) the house in which. .. now lies in ruins (lies like a ruin).

תתלא, אילן ת׳ m. [hanging on the tree,] sguirrel. Sabb. 28a; Yalk. Ex. 364.
תלא m. (preced.) hook. Sabb. 140b דבישרא ת׳ Ms. M. (ed. תליא) a hook to suspend meat; דכוורי hook for fish (Rashi; string of meat &c.).
תלאה f. (b. h.; לאה) weariness, trouble. - Pl. תלאות. Num. R. s. 10 וכ׳ הח׳ מרוב .. . לבם tthe mind of he Israelites loses its intelligence on account of the many troubles that they (the gentiles) make for them.

תלבוש pr. n. pl. Talbush. Yoma 10a; Sot. 34b (ref. o תלמי, Num. XIII, 22) ת׳ בנה תלמי (Ar. תלביש) Talmai built Talbush (Talbish; prob. meant for Ptolemais, the later name for Accho, v. תלמי I, II).
תלג I (v. next w.) to be white. Sabb. 152a ת׳ טור the mountain is covered with snow (my hair is white). ba. רשג to whiten, wash (wheat). Y. Pes. III, 30a top הורי זמנין ארבעה ומתלגה . . . (ed. ומתלנה) allowed the millers to put a Tetarton of water to every Modius of wheat, and wash it four times; [Korb. Edah; ומתלנה swing it, fr, תלל; perh. to be read; מטננה, v. נן].
תלג II, תלגא m. =h. שלג, snow; cold, chill. Targ. Ps. LI, 9. Ib. LXVIII, 15; a. fr. - Taan. 3b וכ׳ ת׳ מעלי snow on the mountains is as good as five rains on the ground. Snh. 18b ימות בת׳ . . . אם if in the morning the ox nearrly dies from cold. Gitt. 67b לת׳ as a remedy for chills. Ib. את׳ ליה מגנו הוו they made him lie on the snow; a e.

תלוי m. (תלה) 1) hanger, handle, cord, chain. Sabb. VIII, 2 (78a) וכ׳ ת׳ לעשות כדי גמי Ar. a. Mish. ed. Pes. (v. Rabb. D. S..aa. l. note 400; ed. תלאי) as much reed grass as is required for the making of a hanger for a sieve &c. Eduy. III, 9; Kel. XII, 6; Tosef. ib. B. Mets. II, 12 וכ׳ המגררות ו׳ the chain on which the strigils in the bathhouse are suspended. Kel. XV, 4 וכ׳ מקל ת the handle of the con- stable's staff. Ib. שהור לת׳ העשוי whatever is made for suspending or handling is not susceptible of uncleanness; a. fr. -- Pl. תלויים, תלויין, תלויות. Ib. חוין . . . התלויים כל וכ׳ מתלויי ed. Dehr. (Bab. ed. תלוי התלויות; Mish. ed. התלוים) all hangers or handles are clean except those of &c.; Tosef. ib. B. Mets. V, 6 התלויין. -- 2) hanging down, letting hang down. Yalk. IX (VII), 8 וכ׳ מגופו ת׳ . שטר a document which has an erasure or an interlinear insertion in its body (essential portion, v. תורף) is unlawful; Y. ib. IX, 50c הלות (corr. acc.).

תתלולית f. (preced. art.) mound, hill. Lev. R. s. 19 וכ׳ עפר של זו בת׳ קרא פתר interpreted the verse (Cant. V, 11) by comparison to a mound of earth (that was to be levelled) &c.; Oant. R. l. c. בתלוליות (corr. acc.); Yalk. ib. 989 (not זה); Midr. Sam. ch. V (not בתלילות). Tosef. Ohol. XVI, 1 וכ׳ עפר של זו ח׳ היא ואיזו (not תלולות) and what is called a mound (with regard to levitical un- cleanness)? A mound of earth by the side of a trench. -- Pl. תלולודת. Ohol. תלח, תתלה 1) to tear apart, v. תלע II. - 2) to fall apart, v. infra. tthpe. איתח to fall apart. Hull. 53b הוה . . . הו כי וכ׳ ונפלה מיתלחא Ms. R. (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 400; Ar. מיתלהא; ed. תלחא) when they lifted the lung up, it crumbled and fell in pieces.
