Phono-semantic compound (形聲 / 形声, OC *snaŋ) : phonetic 𤕦 () + semantic 衣 (Li Xueqin, 2012). However, the original version on oracle bones resembles a man with raised hands while undressing; later, a hand and the radical of the cloth were added.
