UAV (plural UAVs)

  1. (aviation) Initialism of unmanned aerial vehicle or uncrewed aerial vehicle: an aircraft with no onboard pilot, and sometimes completely unpiloted (autonomous), that is capable of controlled, sustained, level flight.
    Synonym: drone
    Coordinate terms: RPV, OPV, AUV, ROV
    Near-synonym: UAS (the whole system versus the device itself; loosely synonymous)
