KTX Now Connects Seoul and Gangwon State to Busan
On December 20, 2024, KTX-Eum extended its routes to Busan. The train operates from Cheongnyangni Station , with a stopover at Sangbong Station in Seoul before traveling to Busan. Previously, people living near the two stations in Seoul would have to go to Seoul Station to take the KTX to Busan, but now, with the opening of the new line, they can travel to Busan more efficiently. There are three departures daily with times from Cheongnyangni Station at 06:26, 14:40, and 18:54 (it takes approximately 6 minutes from Cheongnyangni Station to Sangbong Station.) From Busan Bujeon Station, the times are 06:53, 11:09, and 19:28, with all KTX on both directions taking approximately 3 hours and 55 minutes. Starting on January 1, 2025, Donghae Line that connects Busan to Gangwon State will start operation. There will be four ITX-Maeum trains daily to and from Bujeon Station in Busan to Gangneung Station in Gangwon State, taking anywhere between 4 hours and 40 minutes to 5 hours and 20 minutes. Starting 2026, KTX-Eum will be added to the line to cut the time to 2 hours and 35 minutes. KTX-Eum is a high-speed train that travels at a speed of 250 kilometers per hour with comfortable seats and modern facilities. ITX-Maeum travels at a speed of 150 kilometers per hour, providing passengers a chance to enjoy the beautiful coastal view in comfort.
