Abstract

While great advances have been made in increasing tropical fruit production worldwide, production continues to be influenced by the incidence and severity of plant diseases. Papaya trees are susceptible to a large number of diseases caused by fungi and fungal- like organisms, bacteria, viruses, phytoplasmas and nematodes. The following review of the diseases of cultivated papaya is limited to the major diseases of the crop.
