This is the latest long-term extension that Milwaukee has given to a player who has yet to debut in the majors. Ahead of the 2026 season, the Brewers signed shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt to an eight-year, $50.75 million extension.

Neither Lara nor Pratt has made the big-league club yet, and both are expected to remain in Triple-A for the time being, per Passan.
The extension largely eats up Lara's pre-arbitration and arbitration years. If Milwaukee ends up picking up all of the club options, though, the outfielder would not hit free agency until 2036, when he’ll be 31 years old.
