Chike Anibeze was born in Minna on April 7, 1958. He had his primary and secondary schools in Kano and Enugu between 1964 and 1975. He obtained B.Sc, M.Sc., PhD from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka with a speciality in Comparative Anatomy and Neurobiology. He did postdoctoral training in Human Anatomy in 1997 and thereafter commenced his academic carrier at the Abia State University (ABSU) College of Medicine & Health Sciences at Uturu in 1997. He was ABSU Head of Anatomy Department for 10 years (1998-2009). In 2006 he was academically assessed and given a professorial chair in Anatomy. He rose to become the Deputy Provost of the ABSU College of Medicine (2010-2012).

In 2012, he moved to Enugu State University College of Medicine at Enugu where he currently serves as the Director of Academic Planning. He is also the Chairman of the ESUT Book Publication Committee (ESUTpress) and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Experimental Research – the official University Journal. He was elected and served in the Governing Council of ESUT 2017-2019. In council, he was appointed to serve in the Council Committee on ESUT Evaluation headed by the Pro-chancellor.

He has undertaken various researches of international recognition. His PhD research was the first to characterize crude HCG (Human chorionic gonadotrophin) from early pregnant human urine and successfully used the homogenate to induce ovulation in captivated clariids. This research won an award for pioneer research on an indigenous biota. The other aspect of his research efforts has been to pioneer researches in bioanthropology where issues in Molecular Anthropology, Forensic Anthropology and Medical Anthropology are applied to the development of Biomedical research.

Prof Anibeze is well published with about 130 scientific journal articles on both sides of the Atlantic. He has five books published by Macmillan, Delta and ESUTPress publishers. He has supervised over 50 M.Sc. and 30 PhD students in Anatomy and related areas. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB), London; a member of the American Association for Anatomy (AAA) and a Fellow and President of SECAN Nigeria.

He serves in consulting capacities to various national and international establishments such as Tertiary Education Fund (TETFund) – TETFund programme on Book Development (2009-1017), NUC accreditation visitations, National Planning Commission (NIIMP Programme for 2012-2042 Infrastructure Development Masterplan), UNDP Programmes etc.

In his current position as Chairman ESUT Books Publication Committee, he set up the ESUTPress which has recently been adjudged by the NUC as an outstanding quality Academic Publishing Centre in Nigeria. ESUTPress along with UI Press became the shortlisted outfits to produce the NUC Directory of Full-Professors in the Nigerian Universities.

Prof Anibeze’s public service appointments include: Chairman, Governing Board of the National Eye Centre, Kaduna (2012-2015); Permanent Board Member1 Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (2005-2007) and a member of the Governing Board Raw Materials Research and Development Council (2005-2007).
