Split tickets and upsets topped the results in Monmouth and Ocean County’s June primary election.

As of Wednesday, June 3, at 9:30 a.m, county Republican Committee-endorsed candidates dominated, but many voters backed challengers.

Republicans are likely to dominate local elections in November as fewer Democrats filed to run in the primaries.

Drop box, mail-in and provisional ballots are still processing. Here are the unofficial results of contested elections:

Brielle Borough Council

In Brielle, incumbents John V. Visceglia and Timothy Shaak lead challenger George E. Mervine III in the Republican primary for two seats on the borough council. Visceglia leads with 399 votes and Shaak leads with 387 votes. Mervine trails with 335 votes. Both Visceglia and Shaak were endorsed by the Monmouth County Republican Committee. No Democrats filed to run in the Brielle June primary.

Colts Neck Township Committee

Monmouth County Republican Committee-endorsed candidates Thomas Sullivan and Robert Farrell have a lead over school board member Kevin T. Walsh in the Republican primary for two seats on the Colts Neck township committee. Sullivan leads with 1,010 votes, followed by Farrell with 998 votes. Walsh trails with 414 votes. No Democrats have filed to run in the June primary in Colts Neck.

Holmdel Township Committee

Monmouth County Republican Committee endorsed candidates Gary Vanderham and Thomas “TJ” Mann have alead in the Republican primaryfor two seats on Holmdel’s township committee. Vanderham, an incumbent who was appointed to fill a vacancy in Dec. 2025, and his running mate Mann lead with 886 and 859 votes, respectively. Challengers Ronald Emma and Kristin Celauro, running under the slogan "Holmdel First," trail with 466 and 515 votes, respectively. Incumbent Joseph A. Romano also trails with 249 votes. No Democrats have filed to run in the June primary in Holmdel.

Middletown Township Committee

Incumbent Ryan M. Clarke and Morganne Dudzinski lead the Republican primary race for two seats on the Middletown township committee. Both Republican candidates were endorsed by the Monmouth County Republican Committee. Clarke leads with 3,104 votes and Dudzinski leads with 2,687 votes. Challenger Mark Soporowski trails with 1,329 votes. Clarke and Dudzinski will like face Democratic challengers Jeremy Seideman and Shawn Wallach who received 2,931 and 2,897 votes in uncontested Democratic primary race.

Millstone Township Committee

In Millstone, a challenger is leading in the Republican primary race for two seats on the township committee. Daniel Murphy, running under the slogan "Your Voice in Millstone," is leading the Republican primary with 483 votes. Incumbent Chris Morris, who has the endorsement of the Monmouth County Republican Committee, has 473 votes. His incumbent running mate Jeff Ziner is trailing at 382 votes. No Democrats have filed to run in the June primary in Millstone.

Rumson Borough Council

Challenger Robert Eyerkuss III, running under the slogan "Rumson Legacy," is leading in the Republican primary race for two seats on the Rumson borough council. Eyerkuss leads with 451 votes. Incumbent Gary Casazza, who is endorsed by the Monmouth County Republican Committee, has 391 votes. Casazza’s incumbent running mate Linda Smith trails with 350 votes. No Democrats have filed to run in the June primary in Rumson.

Wall Township Committee

Incumbent Erin M. Mangan and challenger Jonathan A. Syby are leading the Republican primary race for two seats on the Wall Township Committee. Mangan, who is endorsed by the Monmouth County Republican Committee, leads with 1,330 votes and Syby leads with 1,326 votes. Incumbent Daniel F. Becht, who ran under the slogan "Experience Matters!," trails with 591 votes. No Democrats have filed to run in the Wall June primary.

Lacey Township Committee

Incumbent PeggySue Juliano is leading in the Republican primary race for a seat on the Lacey township committee. Juliano, who is endorsed by the Ocean County Republican Organization, leads with 1,386 votes to challenger Regina C. Discenza’s 538 votes. Juliano will face Democrat Brett Murphy in the general election. Murphy received 898 votes in an uncontested Democratic Primary race.

Lakewood Township Committee

In Lakewood, challenger Moshe B. Raitzik, who is endorsed by the Ocean County Republican Organization, is leading in the Republican primary race for two seats on the township committee. Raitzik leads with 2,067 votes. Incumbent Deborah Fuentes, who is also endorsed by the county GOP, received 1,627 votes. And challenger Aaron Hirsch, who is running under the slogan "Protecting our Future," trails with 962 votes. Raitzik and Fuentes will face Mayor Raymond Coles and Harriet Goldberg, both endorsed by the Ocean County Democratic Committee. Coles received 1,312 votes and Goldberg received 1,136 votes in their uncontested Democratic election.

Plumsted Township Committee

Incumbent Sebastian D’Amico, who is endorsed by the Ocean County Republican Organization, is leading in the Republican primary race for a seat on the Plumsted township committee. He leads with 580 votes to challenger Robert O’Neill’s 370 votes. No Democrats have filed to run in the Plumsted June primary.

Ship Bottom Mayor

In Ship Bottom’s mayoral race, Republican challenger William Fenimore has narrowly eked out a lead over incumbent Mayor William Huelsenbeck, who is endorsed by the Ocean County Republican Organization. Fenimore lead with 159 votes to Huelsenbeck’s 151 votes. Fenimore currently sits on the borough council. No Democrats have filed to run in the June primary for Ship’s Bottom’s mayoral race.

Ship Bottom Borough Council

While William Fenimore has a lead over the incumbent mayor, his running mates for the two council seats John Hiros and Gerard Buonpane are trailing behind the incumbent candidates. Incumbents David Hartman and Edward English, both endorsed by the Ocean County Republican Organization, have 166 and 164 votes, respectively. Challengers Hiros and Buonpane are trailing with 141 and 120 votes, respectively. No Democrats have filed to run in the June primary for Ship’s Bottom’s council race.

Tuckerton Mayor

Challenger Michael Dupuis, Sr. is leading in Tuckerton’s Republican primary mayoral race. Dupuis, who ran under the slogan “Committed to Tuckerton, Committed to you,” is leading with 175 votes to Mayor Susan Marshall’s 104 votes. No Democrats have filed to run in the June primary for Tuckerton’s mayoral race.
