San Angelo Central football senior offensive lineman Ethan Boyd announced his commitment to the University of Texas-San Antonio in a post on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday.

As a three-star prospect according to Dave Campbell's Texas Football, Boyd had nine offers to NCAA Division I college football programs, including Oklahoma State, the University of Texas-El Paso, Georgia State, Florida Atlantic University, the University of North Texas, the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, the U.S. Naval Academy and Abilene Christian University.

"Home isn’t always where you’re from. Sometimes it’s where you’re valued, supported, and believed in,” Boyd said in his post on X. "Throughout this process, I learned that the right place isn’t about money, hype, or promises, it’s about people. The coaches, staff, players, and everyone at UTSA made me and my family feel at home from day one.”

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound offensive lineman was a first-team All-District 2-6A selection at guard. He has started 22 games since his sophomore season and helped the Bobcats go 8-4 last year and win their first playoff game since 2020.

Boyd joins a Roadrunner program that finished its third season in the American Athletic Conference with a 7-6 record and beat Florida International 57-20 in the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl.
