South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer gave an update on star edge rusher Dylan Stewart's injury on March 3 as the Gamecocks prepared to start spring practice.
Beamer listed players from last season whose injuries lingered into this spring and announced updates. Practice begins March 4.
"If I say limited, it means they're not going to be full bore out there tomorrow, but we anticipate them being able to do a little bit and we anticipate them being able to practice by the end of the spring," Beamer said.
Stewart was among those listed as limited.
"Just more of a continuation of what he dealt with the last half of last season,” Beamer said. "He won't be full go but he'll limited in some areas. Probably a little more limited the first week of practice then we'll see where he is."
Stewart dealt with a back injury for some of the 2025 season and missed time in the second half of the final game vs Clemson, a week after he was out for the entire game against Coastal Carolina.
Beamer said Dec. 3 that Stewart needed rest and not surgery to deal with his injury and that when he played through the pain last year, they weren't risking his health by letting him take the field.
Stewart was a second-team All-SEC selection in 2025 with 33 tackles, a team-leading 12 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He was a Freshman All-American in 2024.
