Crosshill Christian track and field athlete Kasey Zuidema is the winner of the Maps Credit Union high school girls Athlete of the Week, as voted by Statesman Journal readers.

A junior, Zuidema won the Class 2A girls javelin (137-4), discus (126-7) and shot put (39-9 1/4) for the rare throwing triple crown at the OSAA track and field state championships.

Zuidema received 49.51% of the reader poll votes. West Salem softball player Pacey Smith was second (37.76%).

Rachel Baumholtz, Dayton softball

Baumholtz, a senior, pitched seven innings and allowed just one run and four hits May 29 in the Pirates' 4-1 win over Banks in the Class 3A state quarterfinals.

Hadley Foster, Regis softball

Foster, a freshman, posted three hits and three RBIs May 29 in the Rams' 8-2 win over Union/Cove in the Class 2A/1A state quarterfinals.

Scout Haugen, Silverton track and field

Haugen, a freshman, won the girls Class 5A high jump with a 5-foot 5 3/4 inch leap May 29 at the OSAA track and field state championships.

Hadley Hughes, Dayton track and field

Hughes, a junior, won the girls Class 3A discus (126-1) and javelin (126-0) across May 28-29 at the OSAA track and field state championships.

Mila Morley, Stayton track and field

Morley, a sophomore, won the girls Class 4A javelin (140-6) May 29 at the OSAA track and field state championships.

Pacey Smith, West Salem softball

Smith, a freshman, hit a home run May 27 in the Titans' 4-2 win over Tualatin in the second round of the Class 6A state playoffs.
