English Abstract: A collective book which deals with the polymorphic layers of Europeanisation and tries to answer to a number of key questions: Is Europeanisation the historic and strategic process which made the European Union a civilisational powerhouse at continental and glob...

Furthermore concepts like Schengen Area, internal market and Euro-regions have bolstered the European identity as a trademark for functional and functionalist best practice. The cross-border cooperation with non-EU states represented a step forward for EU-ralization without accession but the recurrence of ethnically motivated separatism could generate the scenario of artificial borders within member states within EU single space. The Szekely Count(r)y is not a Kosovo-like case mainly because it is not riparian to the “kin”-state. Territorial fragmentation of the state is theoretically achievable but following this pattern a second mini-Romania could also emerge within the Szekely Count(r)y. The underdevelopment and mono-industrialization of the Szekely inhabited counties could best be tackled not by petty en/ex-clavization but through enhanced Carpathian regional integrat...

In the same time, the general debate over the issue of fully implementing the deepening of the freedom of services at last led to major tensions between West and East in the EU. The securization of the Eastern and Southern frontiers in the context of immigration waves based on organised crime is another concurrent issue by affecting the labour market in illicit ways. Nonetheless, the crisis of multiculturalism and the growing denial of the relevance of the European Union lay at the crossroads between security and „labour stealing” phobias, a key indicator in the electoral and governance patterns.

English Abstract: A collective book which deals with the polymorphic layers of Europeanisation and tries to answer to a number of key questions: Is Europeanisation the historic and strategic process which made the European Union a civilisational powerhouse at continental and global scale? Is Pax Europaea the essential public good implemented by integration? Is the European Union promoting Europeanisation as the smart tool for a globally successful foreign and security affairs agenda? Is the EU-led Europeanisation rivalled by contemporarily competing geo-strategic scenarios, like Americanisation, Euro-Asianisation, Neo-Ottomanism and Neo-Islamism?

An inception scenario could consider and eventually overcome Euroskepticism, Eurosklerosis, Eurozone meltdown, Sovereign Opt-outs or other negative trends. Three questions are envisionable on such premises: Is it a matter of stronger political will to deepen the empowerment process in accordance to the official claims for a safer and grander unional Europe, capable to foster enhanced understanding and practice of its role in contemporary world affairs? Is it a matter of relevance to show that the EU is not just a bureaucratic form without content in the complex arena of International Security, or a fragile economic powerhouse with almost no coercive might? Is it a matter of urgency to validate its string of Treaties beyond the optimistic wording of social market economy and mutual assistance clause into the reality of preventive diplomacy and just resolution of classic or asymmetric risks and threats?
