Following the release of two suspenseful trailers, the heat is turning up on Paramount’s World War II film Allied, as a pair of fresh teasers from the upcoming thriller debuted Wednesday morning online.

Allied, directed by Robert Zemeckis, follows a Canadian intelligence officer, Max Vatan (Brad Pitt), who becomes romantically entangled with a French Resistance fighter, Marianne Beausejour (Marion Cotillard), as they embark on a treacherous mission to North Africa. They ultimately reunite (and marry) in London, and their romantic bond is threatened as the war — and speculation that Marianne is actually a Nazi spy — rages.

In the first clip, Max denies his wife’s involvement in treasonous affairs, kicking over a chair after refusing to cooperate with his military superiors’ investigation into her suspected ties to the Germans.

“If it is proven that your wife is a spy, routine procedures in cases of intimate betrayal will apply,” Simon McBurney, playing a British Special Operations Executive official, says to Max. “You will execute her with your own hand, and if we discover that you are an accomplice in any way, you will be hanged for high treason, Wing Commander Vatan. Do you understand?”

The second preview offers a sneak peek at a scene in which Max tests Marianne’s skills with a firearm in the African desert. Though he doubts her, she flawlessly passes his test, hitting her target on the first shot.

Allied opens Nov. 23 in theaters nationwide.
